What can I say. I really didn’t gel well with this book.
Sonja the main character just didn’t hook me in and make me care about her unlike similar quirky, loner characters. I didn’t enjoy her tangential thoughts, memories etc. They just bore very little relation to what was happening in the narrative that they just bored me. The author was obviously trying to convey how much Sonja missed home and the simple life of the countryside and her family, compared to the big city of Copenhagen, but it was honestly too mundane for me.
I was expecting something along the lines of Frederick Backman or Robert Seethaler but got bored. Hence it took me a month to read all 188 pages. I ended up skim reading the last third of the book.

Like the first book, I feel like this book has suffered from mediocre voice actor and diverted attention syndrome.
Unlike the first book, however, I feel like there is a lot of interesting story hidden under a lot of faff.
The big cast of characters is hard keep track of sometimes, but this could be because of listening in audio (anyone else find that hard?!).
Many tangents are left unfinished no have just started listening to book 3 though so let’s see how that goes.
