Like, barely under a 5.

I thought the timeline/countdown worked really well and I appreciated getting an "After" chapter for each sister. Funny how most of Annie's chapters involve freaking out over her vision of Fia's death - then it happens, goodbye all prior buildup.

Cady was a lovely unreliable narrator. I honestly couldn't explain it, but I loved this book. Pacing was perfect, plot fascinating. I didn't see the twist coming until the reveal, so that was great too.

I loved the "alters," especially cute little Tattletale and tough Angel; but I would've liked to see more of the gatekeeper. Terrific premise, vivid characters, great plot - well-planned and well-executed.

NOV 2018: Readalong/Slack discussion with Maggie herself!)

THE ZAMMIE FEELS. Absolutely wonderful. All the couples were so cute, and I loved Grant and Jonas' cameo! Catherine is actually insane, mentally unstable, but still admirable for her drive and cunning. Lovely ending, though I'm a little confused by the switch to "the boy" instead of his name.

Masterful use of suspense and descriptive writing. Strong voice and vibrant characters; it's near impossible not to fall in love with Aaron (aka the Boy With the Brown Eyes). And Alice (Zoe) herself was absolutely lovable too.

I knew it was Bluebeard as soon as she read Felix's note - and I really didn't get why she insisted on going after him when Blue has all that Herondale-esque charm. Overall, a captivating and imaginative tale.

A hint of the supernatural with Sam's Aunt Allie, the locket, and some of the overall timing - subtle enough to add to the mystery instead of distracting by punching suspension of disbelief. The emotions are a bit overly dramatic, but ultimately realistic. Well-written and intriguing, this book's a keeper.

TONS of epic Percabeth fluff, which makes me a shipper so very happy. Finished this book in 3 hours - stayed up until 1:30 in the morning, which was SO worth it. I hated the hanging ending in the way you hate your favorite authors for torturing your favorite characters, which is exactly what this is.

The Gadsbys are fascinatingly dysfunctional, kind of a Leaving the Bellweathers kind of quirky. Blue is definitely easy to relate to; Twig and Jas are so cute; Flora was a pretty believable teenager. Zoran is a terrific big brother, and Jake seems like a great friend for Blue. The tone was complex but not heavy, poignant but age-appropriate.
