A hint of the supernatural with Sam's Aunt Allie, the locket, and some of the overall timing - subtle enough to add to the mystery instead of distracting by punching suspension of disbelief. The emotions are a bit overly dramatic, but ultimately realistic. Well-written and intriguing, this book's a keeper.
