A nice blend of bookish academia with a vampire mystery? This book managed to balance these two topics really well and was an engaging read.
As a library science student myself, I was really pleased by the tidbits and facts about book conservation, even though it's not the main thing I study. But it's close enough to make me feel excited and I was really happy that the author managed to put so many interesting facts about old manuscripts and old prints into the story while not making it feel like infodumping. It was also clear that Jonathan had really passion for the subject and that's something I always like about characters. Jonathan himself was also interesting. His past, desires and overall personality made his point of view so engaging!
I really loved how he fell for Dacian, too. I sometimes struggle with books when the romance is not completely developed, but I can say that I enjoyed this one a lot. Their chemistry, especially Jonathan's feelings surrounding his fear and desire, felt nicely written and the progress of the romance was great too.
The mystery was a bit predictable in some places, but in the end really surprised me with the final gory action.
Overall I really enjoyed this book! 

Very sweet webcomic, I really liked the day to day stuff the author talked about and the guest episodes as well.

The poems were really pretty, I liked many of them.

The thing is I read this book solely for the gays, and while I decided to read all of the stories, most of them were only okay-ish. Brokeback Mountain completely destroyed me.

This is not my usual kind of book so I was surprised a bit by how much I enjoyed it. I loved how it was focused  on the characters, keeping the third point of view not only on George and Phil, but also adding other characters. Especially Phil's character was really interesting.

I have no idea how to properly review this book, so this is more of a string of thoughts. 

I managed to read it in almost a single sitting - with a break for dinner - and finished at 1:30 in the morning. Something about it just kept me so hooked in, like I knew if I stopped reading I would be unable to fall asleep because I would be up thinking about Jean.
Even before, Jean was one of my favourite characters in the series and when I first heard that there would be a new book with a focus on his story at USC I was delighted and bought the book right then when it came out. But I wanted the perfect mood to read it and apparently it was the first October Thursday that fit the vibe the best? I guess? Like everything about Jean is honestly making him to be the blorboest blorbo to ever blorb and I am not sorry that I want to study him under a microscope. The way he coped with his time out of the Nest, from waking up in Abby's house to settling in LA, I mean this book really was one of the best read of this year and my mind is full of Jean and will be for some time. Not a review, more of a ramble I guess, but I had to get it out of my system. 

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!

There were so many things I liked about this book, but unfortunately I didn't completely enjoy the story as a whole. 

The friendship between Laurel, Mary-Jo and Emma was definitely one of the highlights of the book. It was just wonderful to see them stick together and support each other, not just in the action-packed scenes, but also in the everyday life. Many romance-focused stories seem to forget about friends and I was so glad this one didn't. It made Laurel more nuanced, gave her character more depth. MJ and Emma were also great characters on their own. Both had their specific problems and made the town of Penny Harbor seem closer to me as a reader. 
That is also something that shows in the additional Penny Harbor parts of each chapters. I feel like it definitely added depth to the story, introduced more lore, that would be otherwise limited by the dual POV. It brought enough foreshadowing for the final twist in the plot to make more sense.
The twist. I kinda liked it. It was ambiguous enough to be creepy, and the foreshadowing wasn't too obvious to spoil it.

I loved the bear fight! It was so bizzare to see such creature plagued by the coal and how it then affected the people, too.

 
I felt more connected to Laurel than Spencer, even though they both had qualities that I like to see in characters. Their romance was very sweet and it was impossible not to root for them as they both discovered their feelings. Spencer's backstory and heartbreak paired well with Laurel's personal problems, and I really liked their whole meet cute.

But, I didn't completely click with the author's writing style and that made my reading experience worse. The story didn't really flow for me and the final part of the story felt a bit anticlimatic. Fine would be the word I would use to describe the overall vibe I got from the book.
