Nghi Vo's stories are just fantastic to read! Her ability to use just a little more than one hundred pages to tell not one but two very interesting tales is so admirable. Plus the writing style is so beautifully crafted~ What to say, I'm really excited to read more of her works.
Fun read for kids of all ages who want to know more about beautiful Navajo myths. Despite being a little bit too old for this book, it was still a really nice story and I am glad I picked it up and also learned something new about the Native American culture.
Kdyby to nebylo k maturitě, tak bych to snad ani nedočetla. Překlad pěkný, proti tomu jen snad ta počeštěná jména. Ale ten příběh je děsný.
3,5 stars rounded up
Let's just start with the fact that this book has my favourite trope - found family (even if it's just for the last few pages). This was probably the only reason why I rated it more than three stars.
Because while the story may have been hurried in some places and too slow in others, the ending was exactly my cup of tea. Open, but happy and hopeful.
Also the writing was stunning, really nicely fitting the time setting and atmosphere of the book.
