This might be my favorite in the series so far because there wasn’t any focus on the side story in this one. It was more what I was expecting from the series the whole time I was reading it.
I loved the fairy tales and children’s stories sprinkled throughout this one and it added a fun element to the story. Looking forward to the next one!

I seriously don’t know why it took me so long to pick up this wonderful book!
Hotel Magnifique is a magical story about a hotel that only appears once every 10 or so years. People are given a chance to to spend 2 weeks in the hotel for a very steep price. But the price is well worth it. They see magic beyond their wildest dreams and are taken to places that could only imagine.
Everything about this book was wonderful. I loved the characters even though Jani, the main character, could be a tad frustrating at time. She is the curiosity in all of us. The setting was beautiful and I wanted to be inside the hotel despite the darker side to it all. I wish there could be more about the hotel because it sounded amazing!
Absolutely loved this and I’ll have to look out for more of this authors books going forward!

Rebecca Yarros and this series might just be my undoing …
I honestly expected this book to fall flat after how much I loved the first one but I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong!
Picking up right where Fourth Wing left off, Iron Flame was yet another wild ride! Not only was there a ton of amazing character development throughout the entire book but there were some amazing redemption arcs, some new favorite characters to hate … everything you could ask for in a second book. I cannot even begin to imagine where she plans to take the story from here because the ending to this story was absolutely wild and totally unexpected. Pieces started falling into place as I was reading and some parts became obvious as they were about to be revealed but damn … I really did not expect her to go there with that ending and I absolutely love it! I love it when an author goes off script and does something that will truly shock the reader.
While I’m going to agree with the people saying the writing isn’t amazing I want to point out that that is something I really don’t care about

What an absolutely wild ride this book was!
I was always hesitant to pick it up because of all the hype around it but now I regret not picking it up sooner!
This book was everything you want in a good thriller. Crazy wife, beautiful maid, kind husband, and a major twist. Was the twist a little predictable, sure. But I did not expect it to be quite as extreme as it was and I really enjoyed the turn the book took.
Can’t wait to pick up the next one!

I love a good retelling, especially if it involves Peter Pan and Captain Hook ….
This one had a lot of potential but I didn’t like the storytelling method. I thought the story was very disjointed and the flashbacks didn’t always flow well with the rest of the story. And it was all very trippy. It’s like the entire story was told while someone was high, which it kinda was because it sounds like Hook was almost always on something during the story.
I don’t know, it just didn’t work great for me and I was a little bummed that there wasn’t more of Peter in the story.
This one just wasn’t for me.

4.5/5 stars!
I think this might be my favorite in the Book Retreat series so far!
When a reality show comes to Storyton Hall in the form of a cooking competition, Jane Steward might have bitten off more than she can chew.
I’m starting to like this series more and more now that we’re getting out of the wilder phase with the Templars and all that and we’re getting back to your typical cozy mystery vibes. I loved that there was a cooking competition in this one and a lot more talk of food. Friendship, food, and mystery were what drew me to Ellery Adam’s books in the first place and I’m glad we’re getting back to that for us just a little bit more.
Can’t wait to read the next one!

Evelyn seems to be the popular name for MCs lately. Evelyn Hardcastle, Evelyn Hugo… not Evelyn Aubrey.
I jokingly had high hopes for this one after the first two I mentioned were so incredible.
While they have nothing to do with each other it was just a funny connection I made in my head to all of them.
The Stolen Book of Evelyn Aubrey is a dual timeline historical fiction book that focuses partly on the story of Evelyn, her family, and her writing and partly on the story of Abby who is searching for her father who may be a descendant of Evelyn Aubrey. Abby’s journey takes her to England and the home Evelyn shared with her husband and then to small town America in the search for her father.
The story engulfed me from the beginning, I wanted to learn more and more about Evelyn and what was happening to her. Her story in the world ended in mystery and you want to know what happened to her throughout the book. While the ending was a bit predictable it also fell a little flat for me. I felt Evelyn’s story was never fully resolved. Maybe that’s just me but that’s why it loses the star. Slightly more focus on Evelyn and what became of her might have gone a long way into making this a 5 star read for me.
While Abby’s story was interesting as well hers also started to trail off at the end. Her overall story was given an ending but it slowed down a lot in the last 100 pages.
Overall I enjoyed this one but it didn’t wow me like it had the potential to do.
