Ending was anticlimactic for me. Loved Dorothy even though she'll probably be disgusted with how much processed/ fast food I eat.

Bittersweet! Warm hug and slap to the face at the same time 😆.
dark reflective tense

We follow Fernando as he returns home to Columbia to accompany his dying brother Dario. Once there we basically follow Fernando's memories through the years and his views on life, death, society. I enjoyed the majority of the book. There is anger in this from his relationship with his mom, to the Pope, to Columbia as a whole etc. and I was intrigued by it. This gave me nihilistic and morbid vibes but in a sometimes funny way. It hard to write my thoughts on this because the whole book is basically being inside this angry mans head the whole time without chapters or breaks, however i found many quotes in this that really captured my eye:

"Life itself is a kind of AIDS"

"It was like emerging from an internal hell into an external one, into Medellin, that pigsty of Extremadura transplanted to the planet Mars"

"To wit, God does not exist, the current Pope is a pig, and Columbia's a slaughterhouse, and here i am rolling about in the darkness astride the stupid Earth."

"Life is one sad business...the moments of happiness do not make up for all the misery"

"What can you do, though, between the shit that were born into and the shit that we live in and the shit that remains when we leave."

The art 🤌 really enjoyed this one!

6/10 stories are amazing! I would say the rest are 3 stars so overall this was a solid book
