1/3 harry potter, 1/3 american vs british sayings, the remaining was a boring. there are great MG reads with great world building and character development and this book was lacking for both. Although im not the target audience i can still appreciate a good story.
Fun time! The mystery was lacking tho and felt rushed st the end. I loved the MC and have now adopted cliches as my language. All's well that ends well.
the first 20% of this was great! and then when it hit the 50% mark it started loosing me and once the 70% hit i skimmed the rest. I could've sworn this was grief horror however it was 1 % of the book and was not really talked about outside of Mago's pov. I did not see the point of Lena's pov. Then there was a time jump and it was less about grief and more about nature vs nurture. This was another tell not show book and it left me thinking ok? that's all? Overall I couldn't tell you what this was really about and to label it as horror is a stretch. If there was only the pov from Mago and Monstrilio then I probably would've enjoyed it more.
i could not get into the writing style and the constant "she didnt know now but she will learn later" pop up at least 4 times within 60 pages.
