Beautifully written and immersive. Emotions were shown not told. The flow of events were woven together effortlessly. If you can relate to having an adventure seeking, charismatic but ultimately an emotionally unavailable father that you yearn for his love throughout your life and make room for his new families then this book will be for you.

I was more interested in what happened with Darlington. There were many side plots happening that kind of lost me at times. I was struggling with settling into the story, i had to read a few pages in order to get the flow going. Overall, didn't hate it, didn't love it but the ending was good.

Dnf the audio to this. Narrator voice is so robotic.

This was not the vibe. Too many unnecessary POV. The sentences were choppy. The characters were bland. I was confused for the first couple chapters, I didn't feel settled into the story. Half way through I honestly forgot there was some sort of mystery going on. This felt like a summary of a book I'm waiting on reading.

An older trans woman trying to find love again with herself and with her son that's been taken away because of her transition. I really enjoyed this. There were parts of the pyche and cupid breaks in the passages that I was not really familiar with but overall a solid read.

out of the 3 parts in this book, I really enjoyed the middle. I think that was the strongest part of the book. I was hoping to get more out of ponyboy's relationships with Baby, Gabriel and Toni in the first part. I think really diving into ponyboys feeling about each of them could've connected me more with them and actually feel the heartbreak with each person. There were some breaks in between present chapters that i just didn't get and it kind of took me out of it at times. The second part was my favorite. I think we really got to feel Ponyboy's desperation for someone to actually see him as who he is and the destructiveness of not having a good support system. I was expecting the last part to be very self reflective as he goes to rehab but it was lacking for me and too short.

That total mass hysteria seen in the crucible? Yeah basically this whole book. The ending not my favorite but for being such a dark book, it left on a hopeful note.

I loved the writing and how atmospheric and descriptive this was. The ending was abrupt to me but didn't take away from the overall book. Although this is a theme we see over and over again, it doesn't make it any less horrific.
