Lovely little tale. Enjoyed it more for Jen Wang's illustration than the plot though.

If you didn't read the individual essays published in the Guardian in 2012, absolutely read this. It brings together the different aspects researched by the Guardian and LSE about what caused the 2011 London/ UK riots. The study really examines the difference between the messages circulated by politicians about the inherent criminality of the rioters and the reality of systematic failures that actually motivated people to violence. Incredibly moving and infuriating.

I absolutely implore everyone to read this book. It is brutally depressing at times, but really brings to your attention exactly the ways women still aren't equal today. As someone who can get a little nervous when speaking up against discriminatory behaviour, I have recently felt a lot more empowered to speak up, this week speaking out against sexist assumptions in my workplace and racist and sexist comments received in a bar. I think it's really important for everyone to do so after reading this book.
