Disturbing and wonderful. Darker and longer than my usual reads, but compelling enough to keep me fully in the story the entire time.
It's hard to get through reading this aloud this without crying. I have a...let's go with complicated, relationship with the concept of Israel as "homeland." The lack of complexity to this part of the story is what took it down to 4 stars. Otherwise, top notch.
Lovely anti-bullying story, told wordlessly.
Super fun concept, I will definitely read the rest. I did have a little trouble identifying with the main character, mostly because they are so painfully shy, but I could see others identifying with them for exactly that same reason.
Good narrative non-fiction is hard too find. And then you add that is a graphic novel?! Excellently executed. A bit dry in places, but that's because it's nonfiction.
Not at all the book I expected, since I was hoping the glitter indicated a queer narrative. I guess that's what I get for choosing a book by its cover. Still, a sweet story following the grief and growth of a tween. I did feel that the end was a bit random and forced, but it wasn't bad, just unexpected.

Middle school clique drama, done really really well. Plus there is true character growth!
