Leaves me with a warm feeling inside, like hot cocoa on a cold day. Loving the queer cast, especially.

This isn't a Riordan Presents book, but it has the same feel, and would be something I'd happily hand to readers of Aru Shah and the like. A nicely paced adventure. I will say that for non-Jewish readers, it's a bit of a stretch, as not much is explained. One failing I will note is that while it's lovely to see a diverse cast of Jewish kids, (we're not all white Ashkenazim!) I wish there were a deeper understanding of what that diversity meant. There is much discussion of the persecution of Jews, why no mention of the intersectionality involved in being a Jew of color in America?

A solid sequel, which delivers the "awww" moment that the first was missing.

Solid and sweet, but kind of missing the end of its story arc. I wanted to see the inventive foster kid finding a family, or forming deeper friendships, or...something. Still, I'll totally read the sequel, ther'es a lot of promise here and the storytelling is solid.

It's a world where only girls are allowed! So that means our main character is... you guessed it.
Great concept, lovely art, and I like the fantasy elements. I also just love the addition of another gentle coming out story. "Character realizes thing about themselves, then everyone says hooray" is something I will never get enough of. Keep them coming!

An updated version of A Little Princess, with magic! Delightful.

I'll be honest, I picked this up because it had a child's handmade bookmark in it, and that was charming. The book was good enough to finish, but not otherwise all that engaging. Would probably hand to a child who really likes goblins, because there aren't that many books with good goblins. I did like the artwork, though.
started to feel rote, and I found hte characters less compelling this time around
