Gorgeous watercolor images, and I appreciate how the larger words can be read as read aloud OR a bigger kid could read the smaller words to get more information.

A nice read, but without spoiling too much I can say that it kind of fails to deliver on the main premise, but does ultimately deliver the emotional comfort that is called for. Still, major pros for NEVER deadnaming the trans main character, even when he hasn't come out to anyone else yet.

Doesn't have the same rhythm as some of Raschka's books, but a solid read aloud about a lesser known artist.

Solid size inclusivity, and I like the historic framing of the "old idea" of fatphobia. However, despite there being some visible disability inclusion, the conclusion of "healthy at all sizes" loses sight of chronic illness. Are the bodies of those who are not healthy equally valid? That is not made clear.

I find the imagery of the "little things" being created in ways that took chunks out of the people really moving. The storyline wasn't really the point, but i did find it came to a nice conclusion.

I wish we had this exact book for many other settings, but hospital is a great start! What it's like to go visit as a patient, to visit a patient, to visit a new baby, to eat in the cafeteria, so much is covered! A great addition to any child's understanding of how the world works.
