IT'S DONE! I've been reading this since December, and it was totally worth the journey. Olga Tokarczuk's writing is stunning, and the plot was fascinating. Tokarczuk did a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life.
This is my third novel that I have read by Tokarczuk, and it will not be my last!

I absolutely loved this sequel to The Bone Shard Daughter. I enjoyed the narrative and that it was focused more on Lin and Jovis as well as how the side characters' arcs advanced the plot. This was well-paced with fantastic plot twists, and I enjoyed the journey along with the characters. I cannot wait for the next book!

There was a bit of a disconnect for me with the characters and the writing style. For most of the book it felt chaotic and I was unsure of what was happening. The last part of the book was an important story about the deconstruction of languages and losing your mother language and had beautiful language. I wanted to like this more than I did.

This was a beautiful story told in letters from Violeta to her grandson. Her story is book ended by two pandemics, but they play a very small role in the story. The novel was beautifully written with fleshed out characters and vivid descriptions. However, I felt a slight disconnect from the characters and the book was a bit drawn out at the end.
