The romances were sweet and the characters were fun. I didn’t feel invested in the supervillain plot as much as I would have liked. I wish we had gotten more of the Leigh/Dana romance as that was what I was most invested in.

More than some books by this author, Damage Control felt like it had a real plot, and not just a series of cute events for the characters to bond.

But I felt so bad for Jill!

She discovers she has a degenerative neurological condition, has a huge crush on her straight beat friend, her straight beat friend’s new publicist convinces her condition to reveal to the world, damaging her career in order to protect her straight best friend’s career by confirming she is indeed straight, then her straight best friend reveals to the world that actually she is gay, and is in love with the publicist who convinced her to reveal her condition! She damaged her career for no reason, and didn’t even end up with her crush!

I love this book so much! Has bara brith ever been this sexy????

Very sweet. Nicky’s insecurities got a bit annoying at times. 

This is pretty much the best possible outcome of a fanfic turned novel. The story feels very much its own and not just a serial-numbers-filed-off version of the original, but you still get the weird quirkiness and outrageous situations that turn up in fanfics. I don’t think any original novel would have had Latvian folk music, or the bizarre winning streak that led to Maddie being a runway model! I enjoyed this so much, and have already downloaded the audiobook of the sequel!

A brilliant follow-up to The Red Files. While I didn’t feel that the wedding plot and the investigation plot were melded as well as they could be, and I didn’t enjoy the investigative aspect as much as the first book, this is more than made up for by the character development out two leads get, and just how darn adorable their love story is. I laughed at the bagpipes, and I cried at their wedding vows—which was particularly awkward as I was listening on my headphones in the bathroom stall at work! At first I was a bit annoyed at the fact that the investigation was so connected to Catherine’s history (it seemed there wasn’t much investigation going on, they just kept talking to people they already knew) but eventually getting more of Catherine’s backstory paid off and I became invested. I’m looking forward to reading The Fixer soon!
