The very definition of short and sweet!

In general well written,  but I felt there were too many loooong passages of navel gazing and angsting, and the characters just kept having sex instead of actually talking to eachother. The book is quite short, and while the characters and situation were interesting, we didn’t get to spend that much time with them and get to know them as much as I would have liked, for the reasons stated above.

This is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. I laughed out loud, I cried, it has everything. The audiobook performance was brilliant.

This is a really sweet romance with great pacing, great characters, and believable emotions.

The negatives are some clunky dialogue, and not really capturing New York vernacular. (Weirdly, the character from New York repeatedly uses Australianisms, even before arriving in Australia.)

But I really recommend this book, because overall it’s great!

A really sweet and very well written story. This was the first in the series that I’ve read, and it’s made me want to go back and start reading from the first book. I find it interesting that being a lesbian appears to be the default in the world of the book—no one identifies as a lesbian, that I can remember, but it seems to just be assumed that every woman is interested in women, and I don’t remember the possibility of being attracted to men ever being brought up!

Harper Bliss is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. This book is excellent. Even though it is quite short, it never feels rushed, and the development of the relationship still feels very natural. The theme of representation is well-handled and emotionally affecting. Also, the audiobook narration by Abby Craden is perfect.

This was such a beautiful story. So much warmth and love and humour. I’m also pretty sure that this is the first “toaster oven” romance I have read where the protagonist, rather than realising she is bi, realises she is a lesbian, and as a lesbian myself I love the representation. I think this has possibly overtaken Bachelorette Number Twelve as my favourite of Jae’s novels.
