This book could have been perfect if not for Wes and Liz being called enemies to lovers. They're obviously annoyance to lovers + the guy fell first + girl next door.

I like this book but I feel like everything wrapped up a little too quickly.

I imagine Astrid as a mix of Meredith from Parent Trap and Lindsay from Gilmore Girls, can't wait to read her book.

This story feels very important, not only because of the topics discussed and their relevance to the world today but because of how it shows you can still find happiness in the world, but I'm going to be honest - the book fell flat for the first half or so. It was extremely slow and I only ended up finishing because 1) I hate dnfing and 2) it picked up after the 50% mark. I had this issue with Leah Johnson's previous book as well and I'm unsure if I'll choose to continue reading this author. The endings are great, but it takes a while to get there.

The plot twists in this book were far better than the last but the fatphobia surrounding Dot is still disgusting and honestly all the discussion on the sex changing plot made me uncomfortable.

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god I thought I was going to rate this book so much lower but the last third of the book was INCREDIBLE. I love this.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kind of slow going because I knew at least a handful of the people who would die; mostly confused on how the cat survived.

Water reading The Song of Achilles and knowing more about the story of Achilles and Patrolocus, I understand this book more

Maximum Ride attempts to fight the "teenagers saving the world" trope and completely fails in that aspect. The main character saying she doesn't want to save the world, that she's too young, but still doing it does not a deconstructed trope make. Not only that, but the text is horribly stereotypical and scientifically wrong that is more than just outdated - it's legitimately worrying how wrong parts of the book are.

How could I rate this book any less than 5 stars? Loved hearing Jenette McCurdy finally talk about her struggles, please do not listen if you feel you might be triggered by the content, I provided a list of all I could remember in this review.
