Stella has Asperger's and has never enjoyed romantic entanglements the way they're meant to be enjoyed. So she decides to hire Michael to help her get lots of practice. I really enjoyed reading a book from a non-typical perspective! The story was very well written, and the audio was fantastic. I didn't want to stop listening!

This was one of those books that gave me all the feels. It's funny but also frustrating, sweet and yet also quite steamy. I was rooting for Stella the entire time, but I was also very much Team Michael. He had his own personal obstacles to overcome and I am so glad that we learned so much about him as well as Stella.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves romantic comedy.

This was a really fun story set in the roaring 20s. I loved the way the monsters were generally associated with mob bosses and the slang that was used felt very natural (for someone who obviously didn’t live during that period anyway). I also both loved and hated that it was a stand-alone and would recommend it for anyone looking for a quick paranormal read with some monsters you don’t see pop up often in fantasy.

Sweet Melody was a really cute summer romance. Lindsay is a bakery shop owner in a small tourist town, who wants to open a food truck to expand her business. Enter Rhett, country song writer yet to make it big, who heads home to join the family business. But can they work together or will his secret destroy everything she has?

This is a clean Christian romance that almost precisely followed the typical movie formula that you’ll find on a certain cable network in December, set over summer rather than the Christmas holiday. But that’s not a bad thing... I knew what to expect and still enjoyed watching it play out.

I really enjoyed the audio presentation of this book. The narration was easy to listen to and the story was fun and easy to follow.

When I picked up the Switch to start reading it, I was expecting a fun summer rom=com, with quirky characters and lots of shenanigans. While I definitely got some shenanigans and the grandmother/granddaughter main characters are quirky, it just wasn't quite what I expected. This is very likely my own fault though, as it's clearly labeled as Women's Fiction, and nowhere does it say "rom-com."

Unfortunately, I'm just not as into Women's Fiction, so for me this one was only a 3-star read. There is nothing wrong with the writing, I enjoyed the characters, but the story was more serious and not as fun as I'd hoped. So while I don't rate this as a 4-star for my own enjoyment, I will give it a 4-star for the genre. If you love Women's Fiction, I think you will really enjoy this tale of life-swapping and finding the self you thought you'd lost.

In The Blood Society, Sammy is a hunter, but not just any hunter. She's the young heiress to the entire D.O.V.E. (Department of Vampire Extermination). But she's struggling with the loss of her parents as well as her partner, and her grief causes her to make some pretty poor life choices. Can Todd (her parents' best friend and the man in charge) and the new recruit he's forced her to train pull her out of her despair and back into the real world?

I have to admit, I didn't like Sammy much for a lot of the book. Here she is, the one who is supposed be taking over the company tasked with protecting humans, and all she can do is wallow in her self-pity. But she grew on me by the end of the book, and I realize that this grief was a big part of her character. Without giving too much away, we'll just say that she has a couple false-starts and epiphanies that make you think she's going to be ready to step up. But she is ultimately still young and sorting through her pain while also trying to figure out who she really is.

This book, while predictable, was an enjoyable paranormal romance with a completely different take on vampires and how they were created. I can't say that any of the twists honestly surprised me - in fact I called most of them really early on in the book. But I still give this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 stars for being an enjoyable read in one of my favorite genres.

I devoured this book! In fact, I finished it in a single day. One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers, and this fun YA romcom has it down, while also mixing in another fave, fake dating.

Winnie and Mat are set up by their traditional Thai parents to "fake date" for their senior year. Although they were best friends for much of their lives, they've loathed each other for the past four years. Winnie just wants to be the "good Thai daughter" so she does what her Mama asks of her. but how can she spend time with her mortal enemy?

I would highly recommend this to any romcom lover! There are some kissing scenes that may be intense for some of the youngest YA readers, as well as a few mentions of a naughty bachelorette party. But I loved this book so much and I couldn't put it down!

The premise of this book was very intriguing. We have Rook, the rare human born with necromancer powers. She's able to not only give life, but also take it away. But that's pretty much all we know. Do everyone's powers work the same? Is the being brought back to life controlled by the necromancer? Apparently not if we consider Bitter Bat... Then we're introduced to the town of Hemlock and the variety of magical beings that reside there. We get a quick glimpse into what is possible, but that's it. There is no real detail about the residents or their world. And the "big reveal" at the end was entirely predictable from the knee scrape kitchen scene.

Overall, this felt like a very basic first draft. There is no character development, the pacing is off, and we were introduced to ideas that never feel fully formed. I think this story has a lot of potential, but in its current state is just bare bones. While it was a very quick read at 230 pages according to goodreads, it felt more like a prequel novella than an actual introduction to a series.
