I absolutely loved The Companion. I knew from the first look on Bookish First that I was going to like it, but I did not know how compelling and utterly chilling this book would be.

From the very first page, I felt very sympathetic for Margot. After losing her family in a terrible car accident, she is now living in an orphanage and still grappling with the grief. And when she's "rescued" to live with the Suttons, you just know something is not quite right.

Every step of the way, the reader is taken on this journey with Margot. I can honestly say that there was not much about this book that was predictable, with the exception of "something is messed up with these people." Sure, I had my theories and some of them played out close to how I expected. And the further you read the more you're able to start to piece together. But I really felt like I was piecing it together WITH Margot, not way ahead of her like in the movies when you're telling the heroine "don't go up the stairs!"

I really loved the ending and how it all plays out in the epilogue, but I'll keep it spoiler free and just tell you to go read this one as soon as you can! It's especially great for the upcoming fall season, if you're a mood reader like me. This psychological thriller will have you turning the pages as fast as you can, but isn't scary enough to keep you up at night.

I loved this one! There were some sections that dragged on a little too long, but for the most part it was great and I can’t wait for the sequel!

I truly felt that the epilogue was way out of character. For the entire book, we hear about how Audrey doesn't want to be Thomas' mistress and she wants to be his wife. They rush to get married (before it's sidelined) and then after all is done, they wait a year to get properly ENGAGED again?! And then another year after that to finally be married?! And all this time, they're living together and traveling the world together? I just find it completely out of character that it took that long, and if the timeline had been more like a month to get engaged (again) and then max a total year before the wedding, I would have loved it, but this just totally threw me off.
