This was a wild ride. Based off what I knew from The Good Liar, I did not expect this to be as intense as it was. Leland and Franklin's story was surprising in the best way. There's spice, drama, angst, pining, it's got it all. I'm going to try not to spoil too much of the story, so it'll be a little vague. But if you haven't read The Good Liar I suggest reading that first!

Leland and Franky have a chance encounter at a work event and are quickly drawn to each other - first as friends, but then more. On the surface they are complete opposites - there's a 20 year age gap, they have completely different upbringings and lifestyles. But deep down they are so similar and it's what makes them work so well together. Leland is a precious broken boy trying to figure out who he is and how to live his life, and he finds a kindred spirit in Franky. Even though he's older, Franky is struggling with an identity crisis himself. Together they make each other braver, stronger, and truly understand the other.

Their relationship is deep and intense and we get every detail from the beginning to their happy ending. Their differences and realities create a lot of difficulties for them that they have to work through independently in order for them to succeed together. It's heartbreaking at times, but ultimately there is nothing that can keep them apart.

I really wanted Franky to get it together faster. He hurt Leland, and even Cole and Jasper, so much and I just wish wish he pulled his his head out of his ass sooner and got the help he obviously needed. The wasted time just hurts my heart. While we get a lot of his character development, we don't see as much of Leland's until the end. I would've loved to see more of his journey.

I will say I'm not the biggest fan of age gaps this big. It's 20 years, and at some point that just gets too stuck in my head. Franky really didn't act like it so that helped, but I think it would've been perfect if he was even 5 or so years younger - but that's just a personal preference.

I think I've heard there's one more in the series with a certain character - and I'm so excited for that. Leland and Franky's story was spicy and dramatic - a lot like Jasper and Cole's - and I really enjoyed it!

I was really looking forward to reading this, it's been on my TBR for ages and was perfect for spooky season. I loved all the witchy stuff, but I didn't vibe with some of the plot. They were really minor things, but enough to bug my obsessive brain.

After being away for 6 years, Cassius comes home to Winslow to attend school at Tennebrose (I don't know its actually name, other than it's a university/college called Tennebrose...Tennebrose University maybe?). At a party before class starts, he gets swept away by a hot stranger who turns out to be apart of the family who are his family's mortal enemies. With demons, family feuds, and congregation secrets,  Graeme and Cassius reluctantly work together to fight it all.

I really enjoyed the world building. The witchy stuff and hiding it within religion was interesting. I loved the the town and the university all being involved in the paranormal side, but also having a mortal population around. The different types of witches were cool, but I wish we got a little bit more! It seems like an endless amount of powers and histories.

Now the few things that didn't work. First, I feel that Graeme and Cassius's relationship was all over the place. They were still flip flopping between "everything feels right when you're around" and "I hate you, we can't do this" all the way until 80%. It didn't really seem to have any rhyme or reason, and got a little old. I was also not a fan of the epilogue.

I also thought the deaths were glossed over. Graeme killed his cousin and he was mad for like, a week?? Yes Cassius's cousin wasn't great, Graeme didn't mean to, and he was still pretty angry when they got together again. But with that and after Graeme calling Cassius a liar after all the secrets he told him, I think Graeme needed to do some major groveling, not just apologize a bunch.

Lastly, I think everything wrapped up way too fast. The folios have been lost for 350+ years and they find them pretty quickly without doing any searching. And the whole Claudia thing was very easy to predict, I felt she was sus since the knife disappeared and magically reappeared. And then to have it all explained in the epilogue, it just didn't feel like it was thoroughly done.

I swear I liked things! I gave it 4 stars mainly because I really loved the world building, but I also was a fan of Cassius and Graeme (outside the back and forth of their relationship). When they first met the had a sexy dynamic, and I wish that kind of kept going and wasn't interrupted my all the enemies stuff. When they got along they had fun banter and great chemistry. I do wish the blood magic/battery thing was explained a little more, and how the older witches knew about it.

It's slightly on the longer side but was actually a pretty easy read. It was fast paced and a good amount of mystery and drama. I'm curious about the next in the series as we don't really know much about the witch MC yet. I feel like there's a lot more to explore in this universe and I'm excited to see how it expands!

Novellas are normally kinda hard for me to review because they're either a lot shorter or just seem to be an extended epilogue. I thought this was a really good one with a pretty well rounded story and characters.

Beckett is a motocross champion who recently came out, and is feeling like he's missing the passion for the sport he once had. Christian hasn't ever forgotten his childhood best friend turned something more from 10 years ago who abandoned him when he needed it the most, but he can't stop himself from reaching out when he hears the news.

Their story is about reconnection, not only with people from the past but also reigniting the spark for things that you once loved. After a decade they still have an easy going friendship, even if it's marred by what happened in the past. They want another chance to be together, but there are real obstacles in their way- distance and their careers. Beckett and Christian don't give up each other and work to the make the most of their second chance.

Can't believe I'm done with the Crossroads series! It was fun seeing everyone together and happy at the end, and I can't wait to dig into more from Riley Hart.
