Xavi and Nate have a crazy, drama filled, complicated past. To simplify - Nate's little sister Katy was best friends with Xavi. When Katy passed away, Nate blamed him. A few years later they come face to face again when Xavi is forced to move into Nate's house. There's tension, side characters with questionable motives, main characters with even more questionable motives, and a lot of hate sex.

Nate hates Xavi with a passion, but that passion also fuels his undeniable attraction. Xavi has his own personal demons and guilt for what happened, but he's been in love with Nate for years. They can't stay away from one another so they have all the hate sex that they could possibly have - which I've mentioned already but it seemed to be a majority of the book. At the beginning I was all for the toxicity and drama, but then about halfway it seemed to just be the same thing over and over again.

What I did like about Nate and Xavi was all the possessive toxic stuff that makes a book fun. Nate is a little off his rocker but in an entertaining way. I loved when Xavi was sassing him right back, even though most of the time I just wanted to protect Xavi from the mean side of Nate. They have a complicated relationship but once they got over their issues I was living for the "you're only mine and everyone else can fuck off" attitude.

The other characters in the book were interesting too. Though they all seem to be very messy I bet it would make for some entertaining stories. I didn't read this as a short in the anthology it was apart of it, but I am curious how it's different and what was added.
