I sped through this but can't wait to pick it up again. The short chapters make for an intriguing and ever moving plot/timeline. The character development was excellent. A mystery from beginning to end - with a twist that would have been VERY difficult to predict.

Zero character development, zero real/cohesive story, and yet I finished it in a few hours.

Would I recommend to anyone, no! Honestly this was terrible and cringy but I fully intend to finish the damn series.

History written as poetry! Engaging, emotional, and thought provoking. I teared up on multiple occasions. I would put this as a must read.

This book had so much potential but in the end it just fell flat. A story about two people who recently got into a relationship forced to move in together in the middle of a global pandemic, that sounds like a fun read! However, that isn't really the story that's being told. The characters were vastly under developed and I couldn't connect to any of them. I thought the COVID-19 angle felt a bit forced, the couple interacting while living together was actually such a small part of the story and didn't add that much. This could have been done just as well without this "forced proximity" thing (that wasn't actually even forced!) I didn't believe in their relationship, the twist wasn't even that twisty and the investigators we're annoying and not great at their job!

"It's just us." <3

This is an essential millennial read! I connected with Poppy on so many levels. As I am approaching 30, I felt like this book just spoke to me (iykyk). Although there was some messy relationship bits toward the end, it stayed relatable, adorable, adventurous and another perfect summer read.

I am convinced Henry cannot write a bad book.

Planning my trip to Maui now! This is honestly the PERFECT beach read. It's light, funny, and heartwarming. I dare you to pick this book up and not instantly fall head over heels in love with either of the main characters.

Just no! Not trying to shame people, but if this is your thing then, WOW. Probably won't pick up again.

I was really looking forward to reading this book but after about 100 pages I had to give up. Life is too short to read books you don't like!
The set up was so lengthy that I felt like NOTHING happened in 100 pages. Too much world building/magic that didn't really make sense. Not my type of fantasy. Will be unhauling this soon.

I've heard such mixed reviews of this book over the past year, curiosity got the best of me and I finally picked it up. I stayed far away from any spoilers and kind of went into this book blind, however I didn't find the "twist" in the end that shocking. It was foreshadowed quite a bit throughout the entire book. I struggled between a 4 and a 5 star rating for this. I settled on 4 stars for a few reasons: I finished this book within just a few hours (it's short but also very hard to put down), I found the writing style fun and poetic, I thought the book does a good job depicting grief and is a great YA novel. However, the book is very white-centric and more diversity would have been great. Perfect sad summer read!
