I am going to DNF this one because the characters are making me feel nothing. I think that all of the characters are just annoying and uninteresting and I don’t even care to find out what happens.

If you love this book I am so happy for you just not my cup of tea.

Update!
I finished it and thought it was pretty good. I think my issue is that the pacing felt a little off but right after I stopped the first time is where the good stuff started to happen

I have been looking forward to reading this book for so long and I have to say while it wasn't bad I do think my expectations of this book were higher than they should have been.

One of the biggest issues that I had while reading this novel is that the main character was so frustrating and whiny. I know that she was only a teenager but it also felt like she was a bit of a drama queen about everything. I did enjoy some of the side characters but also don't feel like they were as well fleshed out as I would have liked.

Which leads me to this being more of a plot driven story in my opinion rather than a character led one. I think that the characters were just there to make the plot move and unfortunately the plot was boring to be for the 2/3rds of the book.

I am glad that I was able to read this as a buddy read because it helped me to push through to be able to discuss this book.

I may pick up another book from this author but it will probably be a little while before I do.

I picked this book up for a bookclub pick and I am so happy that I did. I think that this is a great fall read.

Quinn did an amazing job in their research for this book. I also found it very helpful that there were all of the dates that were referenced through out the story were in the back of the books about the real events. I love a good historical fiction especially one like this that was so well researched.

I found our main characters to be so compelling. I think that Charlie's growth through the whole three months that the story is taking place is just so inspiring. I also think that Eve's story was also so inspiring and harrowing at the same time. I think that both of these characters had their faults but I think that's what made them feel so real to me.

I think that the setting of this story was also such a big part of me enjoying this wonderful novel. I think that as a reader we can definitely see all of the hard work the author did in making this story work for the time period in which it was set.

I think that if you are a fan of books like The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah you will enjoy this one as well.

I can not wait to read more from this author.

This is a book that takes place over the course of three days which means that the story moved quiet quickly. I think that this was a great read to start October off with because the sanatorium turned hotel was definitely a creepy setting for this book.

I found that most of the characters were decently fleshed out. I think that the only issue that I had with our main character was so meek for the first quarter to half of the book that when she started really investigating things it almost felt like two different characters to me.

I also thought that the main motivation for the "Big Bad" was understandable but also didn't completely make sense to me as to why they did what they did for the whole story.

I think that for me this was such a gripping story that I could not put it down and even though I had issues I still think that the twist and turns of the mystery were so fun to experience.
