I definitely need two things after reading this book:
1. Read it again truly and slowly reflecting on each verse of the poems for 20 minutes
2. Write an exploration of the "sad girl" trope and genre and its use and appearance throughout different text types, cultures, genres and times

it was good. too dense and descriptive at times but it was always beautif and insightful. i loved the concept of the story too, and the imaginery: boys in France in the 80s, awkard and scared and not properly communicating, this shiny summer daydream that unravels decades later. the ending was so fitting too. I just feel like it wasn't remarkable. I woudn't have chosen for it to be longer, nor do I think something wasn't displayed properly or was uncoherent or annoying. It was what it was supposed to be, beautifly done and with very touching thoughts from the main character.
It didn't left me amazed tho

Wow, the conversations in this book are one of the bests, most heart-touching and real and poetic and deep and overall ✨beautiful✨ones I have ever read.
In fact, it often occurs to me that I read romance books only for the smut scenes and ever skip and scan over the rest. But in this book, after all the tension and the conversations and the back story.....I felt like the smut scenes didn't did it justice and, almost, weren't necessary to show the relationship and craving between the characters. I guess that is my only concern with the book.

Quicky, beautiful, and versatile read

Just what I needed in exam season. Some good cute fluffy smutty beautifully consensual and kind of banterish romance.

Doesn't work as an audiobook because of the intricate detailed prose and multiple povs but also, it was too all over the place for me at the moment. A steam of multiple consciousnesess

Overrated. Not bad though. I wish it would have been more dark academia, and I was kind angry (obviously sad but mainly angry) that after all the chemistry buildup
Ramy
died. I wish they had at least a moment for themselves, I feel like that way they characters would have been closer to my heart and the final ⅓ of the book would have more impactful.

It was incredibly addicting and I admire the level of research that went with it too.

The first 60% of the book was a 3/5 stars for me. Interesting characters, so much potential regarding the main group of women. I loved the idea of a childhood friendgroup of witches that goes on to help a supposedly evil sort of chosen-on to raise her to be oart of the good ones.

But the execution (for me) went downwards as the conflict began to be about the TERF leader, and the main characters didn't seemed believable nor relatable nor likable.

Maybe ot was partly on me, as I found myself slipping and scanning the pages, overall struggling to finish the book and at least kbow how things end up. But, sadly, I can't say I had a good time reading this book. I thunk the fantasy idea was amazing, like a better-more diverse-feminist-grown-up version of an epic fantasy witch story. But that essence was lost midway and became a 4pm-bland movie about the characters' exhausting conflicts that could have been solved less dramatically and more authentically.
