critisighs's review :Feel Good Productivity isn’t ground-breaking. It’s nothing new. Books like Atomic Habits and Deep Work are so good because the author is giving their fresh perspective. In this book, Ali Abdaal simply regurgitates ideas he’s learned from others. I went into reading this book thinking I’d find some new insights, only to find the same information from his YouTube videos.
This book is just Ali Abdaal in print form. He mentions how he struggled with writing this book, and it does show, especially in the second half. You can tell that this is his first book and that he’s more YouTuber than writer. He knows how to differentiate himself on YouTube from other productivity content creators, but he’s struggled to do it here with Feel Good Productivity in the self-help genre.
