I was so hopeful I would like this because I love Backman’s other books. I just cannot get into this one! I wasn’t a huge fan of Britt-Marie as a side character in “My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry”, but I am really not a fan of her as a main character. 

Sadly, I'm just not feeling this is a book for me. I'm not very interested in the story or the writing style at this time.

I loved this book! Year of the Reaper was such a fun story and I loved Makiia Lucier's writing which pulled me straight into the story and had me hooked from start to end. Outside of one character's supernatural/paranormal-esque powers, there was not a lot of fantasy to this story. It was much more of a mystery, historical fiction story and I really enjoyed the reference to the Black Death (plague) and Princess Joan's story. I am so excited now to read more by this author and see what other stories she has written!

Another great book from S.T. Gibson! I loved the characters in this so much - they were really the shining star for me. I always love and appreciate a fantasy story told in multiple perspectives and this was one where I was excited for each perspective's chapter. I also really loved the magic and the secret society; I wish we had gotten a little more of the family curse plot prior to the ending along with Leda's character. I will absolutely be continuing this series and reading whatever else S.T. Gibson comes out with!
