And so I really enjoyed this memoir. Will Schwalbe writes about how he and his mother would read together and discuss books as she was slowly living with and eventually dying of Pancreatic Cancer. This is not only a discussion of the importance of books and reading in our lives but also a reflection on how talking about books can help us listen, respond and connect to the people around us.
As a result of this book I hope to grow a little more patience to hear what other people have to say before launching into my own opinons. Also my TBR pile of good books to read may have grown just a little.
Recommend to #BookTube viewers, Book Club members and Book lovers everywhere.

The best way to describe this is that it is like a trip to the Tudor History Museum in a book. Just enough factual information and some interesting stories. I particularly liked the letter written to Thomas Cromwell by Sir Thomas Heneage about the effectiveness of the enema on Henry the VIIIs bowel movements :)
And here was I thinking that Galway was a lovely town filled with Students, Pubs and Cafes by the sea.
There is one cheat and one reliance on coincidence in this police procedural but it does its job and ties up the mysteries at the end. I shall be acquiring The Scholar as soon as the Covid-19 restrictions lift. I really need to see what Cormac O’Reilly does next. Fingers crossed for at least two more of the Gardaí appearing in the next one too.

My enjoyment and understanding of the Epic of Gilgamesh was very much increased by Andrew Georges's translation. Also his introduction and inclusion of the Sumerian Bilgames poems.
