Maybe I should have read this as a kid. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed all of the plot holes. I wouldn't have seen how many times the ball was dropped with a potentially great plot device.
Sally seems very impressionable. So tell her that the nurse is lying? The nurse is supposed to be a trusted adult. Later if Sally had questions about anything (her puberty as that is often a plot point for Judy Blume) would Sally have gone to the nurse - the person to be able to answer her questions with as much fact? Probably not because her mother told her that the nurse was lying.
Playing "concentration camp"? Did kids actually play that?

I never realty became engaged with this book. I listened to it on audio and I totally understand why it won the 2014 Odyssey Award but I didn't care for the storyline.
