This book was ok. The illustrations are very eye catching. I did struggle with the age of the character particularly in regards to the illustrations. The character seems to be about 10 based on the text but I would put her at 13 - 15 based on the illustrations.
It was a good book. Like most Dick King-Smith books a little graphic if you are unready for it.
I enjoyed this book. I did have some comparisons going on in my head to Beautiful Creatures but I think that is the paranormal elements and the rural southern setting.
The one question I have - this seems to be a small town. I assume they only have one school. Why don't Blue and Adam know each other from being kids in the same school before he started going to Aglionby?

I don't remember reading this book before. I actually liked this one unlike most of the other Dahl books I have read.
The fourth book about Kevin Spencer. He has made some gains since the first book. He is continuing to figure out the correct path.
Had a couple of intense moments for the age group I targeted it for.
The storyline overall was interesting. A nice introduction to a new mystery series.
