first off I want to say thank you to my brother for gifting me this book for Christmas. I picked this book up because I wanted a shorter read but my tbr exist of books over 400 pages and this was really the only one that was around 350 pages. I did not want to pick this book up yet but glad that I did. this is an easy high fantasy story that follow three main characters. you do see every single characters pov and I need to say I loved them all. and in a way all these characters will be connected. the story it self is interesting and exiting. I am curious to see what book two will bring.

This was such a good read can't believe that I did not read this till now. I was really in love with the characters and the banter between them they were so funny. also people describe this as an cosy fantasy but there is a good plot that I find really addictive. can't wait for book two!!!

I feel like a three star rating is maybe a to be good rating for this book. I did not like this (nothing against the author). I had such high hopes for this book and was so disappointed by the execution of it. in this book we have trials and it is something that has been done in fantasy book multiple times, often I like it, but I feel like the author did not really create something different. these trials were trials I have read before. beside that the book read really young I know it is young adult but read more as a middle grade book than ya. plot was alright, characters were not for me I like what the author did but did not connect or like any character. I did start this book on my kindle but I could not push through it so I switched to the audiobook, I applaud the narrator because that made it more exiting and is the only reason why I finished this series. I will not continue the series sadly.

sadly this is my first DNF of 2025. and nothing bad against the author because this is not a bad book. in the end this was just not something that was my cup of tea. so first I want to say what I did like
- I did like the writing style it was not hard to read, and I could continue only for that. 

the things I did not like 
- the plot, it is not gripping for me I am not interested in seeing where this book goes to! 
- the characters are not for me. I could not connect to them and I think the side characters overshadow them a lot because they are more likable than the main two characters. 

i will keep this book maybe in the future I will give it a second try, and otherwise I really like the book cover and I have a signed edition so I don't want to get rid of it.

this book was good! I had such a good time. I wanted something easy to read that was also fun, sweet and cute. and this book was it. it gave me all feelings I wanted. in my eye it's not an out of the world book but to deliver what I wanted is still a 4★ rating in my book. I also admired the talk about grief it's something really important to read about in books. 

fourth book of the year! and this one came so close to a five star read, but in the end it missed a bit to get the full five star rating.

golden son was so much better than red rising. but I am not fully on a five star yet. this book has such good pacing, a good plot with good twist, the characters are also lovable. and Darrow is crowing on me. he is still not my favorite character and that is also the reason why it is not a 5 star but he gets better with each book and I hope it will continue in the third book. I am exited to continue and hopefully very soon

this was a very solid young adult thriller book, I enjoyed most parts of the book. I really like the first 50% after that it slowed down for me and I started to enjoy the book a bit less. I feel like I had some pacing issues with this book. the ending was okay nothing shocking I would have loved to see a bit more from that. but overall I do recommend this book.

My second book Is finished!!! and boy was this book a ride.

I had a good time with this book. did it blow me away? no it did not. but in the end I really like Freida McFadden writing style and her way of telling stories, is this one of my favorite? no. did I had some issues? yes. did I guess the twist? kind of yes but kind of no. the only thing I would done different was maybe something with the ending. recently I am not the biggest fan of open endings in thriller books and if you have read this one there is a pretty open ending.

we did it! the first book of 2025!! (yes I did almost write 2024) so crazy that it is already 2025, and the perfect way to start a new year is with a good book.!

I had such a good time with this book, this was fun, understandable read if sci-fi is not your usual genre. good characters. I think this book could also be a five star or around that but because there is so many books left there is room to grow so I don't want to start off with a five star read. but I do believe some books in the series could be five stars. at least I hope that!!

really loved this novella is just fun to see how pip started off before a good girls guide to murder. also it's does something to the story and it's fun to see how serious Pip is about the mystery party, also we see some characters that later will be important to the story
