This was an okay book. I’m a sucker for hockey romances but for me, this was lacking a little something. I think that was a bit more sport. It didn’t feel like a sports romance. It also felt, possibly because of the connection of all the characters, like a college romance.
Yes, Olivia is in college, but she’s 20/21, almost finished, and Ford is 26/27. I expected it to read a little older.
I liked the angst here, but would’ve liked more ways of avoidance. I also would’ve liked the phone calls to be a little more fleshed out.
I do quite like this series, and think I have finally figured out who is whom, but as I said, it feels like there’s something missing here, sorry.

This is probably more a 2.5 star book, but I’ll give it 3 because I did finish it.
Mature YA is my jam. I love it. And I was excited to read this one. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations.
I hated Crispin. He flip flopped between nice and mean at the flick of a switch. For a true bully romance he really needed to be mean 100% of the time. His flipping and flopping really didn’t suit the character role he was playing. He was also a hypocrite. He hated Estella for being horrible to Tinsley when he was doing the exact same thing!
Tinsley got on my nerves. She was so naive, which I get was kind of the point, but it grated on me really badly. She’s also really dense.
Both Tinsley and Crispin were completely clueless about Estella when it was so transparent what she was about.
And the Baby thing? I have no idea what the point of that was. I didn’t feel like it was remotely related to, or added to the story.
This book also read REALLY young and quite often the language choices were immature and a little bit unsophisticated. These are supposed to be privileged, highly educated kids and nothing they were saying particularly matched up with that.
This book had a lot of promise for me, but did not live up to it. I won’t be continuing on with the series, sorry!

I’m not quite sure of the point of this book. Yes, it’s interesting to see some new scenes, but the ones we have seen, but from another POV are boring and bring nothing new to the series.
In this book we’re also introduced to Nicole, who I found to be rather unlikeable.
I still find the mix of rockstar and mafia to be a bit unnatural. They two just don’t meld well together.
Still, I’m interested in this series, but I think this book could probably be skipped.

This book was kind of all over the place. First, there’s at least 5 different POVs in this book, with at least 7 different storyline’s going on, never mind the fact that Ben and Misty were shadowed in books previously, but now it’s Ben and Nicole?
I thought this book was going to be their story, but it’s almost everything but. As a result, it’s too easy and almost forgotten. And the use of Holy Hannah? It’s overdone.
Plus, all the mafia stuff? I still stand that it doesn’t mix with rockstars, at least not how it’s done here.
There are some good moments, but they’re few and far between. A more focused approach here would be better, sorry!

This was a nice little slice of Jesse and Lucy but I’m beginning to think this series is getting too big and there’s too many moving parts.
Once again, we have at least 4 POVs in this book, a novella. It’s too much. There’s too many storyline’s, too many things going on. I’d much rather each book focus on one couple and what’s going on with them, with the mafia stuff sprinkled in with that. Instead, it’s all crammed in together and it gets confusing and muddled.
Only time can see where this series will go, and how it will, but a little more focus would be nice.

I think I enjoyed this book a little more than some of its predecessors. It has its faults, but I think it’s slightly better out together.
That said, it was overly info dumpy at the start. And in the flip side, our introduction to Summer was sparse. I would’ve liked to have seen more.
I also felt the Sydney chapters with Lily were weird. The religious aspect that made its way through wasn’t my favourite either.
The same with Nana Russo’s mojo. I would’ve preferred that stay abstract.
But, the good thing here was there wasn’t a ton of storyline’s running through this story. It made it easier to follow what was happening, and the central relationship to breathe.
Still, I get the feeling there’s a hurry to end this series. I’d like to see a little more thought, and perhaps time put into this.

I seriously love this series. The world that these guys live in, and the guys themselves is great.
I also love the girls, both Tillie and Madison.
What distracts me a little is the all over the nature of the book. There’s always a lot happening, a lot of movement, and half conversations. Just for once, I’d like for things to stay still.
I’m also majorly confused with all the new character additions. It makes me wonder why some of the characters from the original trilogy exist if they’re not really going to do anything.
Still, this is a great addition to the series, despite its flaws. I’m a little disappointed with what happened with Bishop and Madison, but I’m hopeful there’s a reason for it and will be explained soon.
Brantley in this book is awesome and I can’t wait to read his story!!
This book is dark, and definitely needs to be read after part 1, so get into that, then this!

Gah! This book is SO frustrating!! I don’t know if it’s me, but I hate books where there’s a heap of things going on and you only know some stuff so you’re trying to figure out what the heck is happening and you have no idea and it’s SO frustrating!!
Anyway, this was a solid book. I LOVE Maddoc and Cap, he’s just everything! I can’t wait for his book.
I love the way these boys love. They’re fierce and they love with everything they have.
At times I’m frustrated with Raven but I have faith she’ll get there in the end!
Waiting, not so patiently for the next book!

I’m not entirely sure what the point of this novella is. It’s labelled a prequel, so I assume you would read it before Slashes in the Snow, but (and I haven’t read Slashes) it doesn’t feel like the start of a series. It feels more like more information on a couple you like in Slashes so you read this afterwards.
Having said that, it was an okay book. It’s a lot light on information, there’s no real intro to the MC, or to any of the characters.
It does seem as if it’s setting up for a kicking off point for Slashes, but again, it’s so light on information I feel as if I could do without this novella and just dive right in.
It’s been a long while since I’ve read an MC book so I’m intrigued, but I wouldn’t bother with this book. Might this change after reading the next? It’s possible, but as it stands, this seems a little pointless to me.
