This type of book, meshing 2 areas that you don't usually see, is right up my alley. I wanted to love it but I was so underwhelmed. The writing was stilted and the characters were really hard to connect with. I felt like the underlying issues that drove both Maverick and Scarlett were an opportunity to add so much angst and feeling to the book but it was kind of washed out. Not a great book.

Recieved for an honest review.

I am unabashedly a Kaylee Ryan fan but recently I haven't been so in love with her recent works. Unexpected Reality was not a disappointment. I loved it! I thought that the concept might be too similar to Southern Pleasure but it really wasn't. It had the right amount of sweetness, heat and as with most of Kaylee's books, a touch of sadness. Ridge is amazing and Kendall is a perfect leading lady.
While I was reading UR, I got a strong sense of Liam and Ally from Anywhere with you, the two couples give off similar vibes.
I loved Unexpected Reality, it was quite simply perfect.

I liked this book, it was an entertaining read but it wasn't really my type of book. The humour wasn't really my alley and I didn't really connect to Emery or Estelle. But it is well written and a good story, so I would still recommend it, it just wasn't for me.

Oh. My. God! I have no words! Why aren't people shouting from the rooftops that you need to read this book? It's like Throne of Glass mixed with A Court of Thorn and Roses and is just, incredible!
The mystery, the intrigue, the action, the humour... this book is everything!

4.5 stars.

I loved this book! It was much lighter and sweeter than I thought it would be, but terrifically played into the deep love Alana and Ryan have. This book had the right amount of angst, drama, heat and sweetness. Loved it! Would highly recommend!
