This was a sweet book. It’s very firmly ya, probably a little bit too young for me, but it was okay.
Elisabeth is very naïve and sheltered.
Nathaniel was dry and sarcastic and I would’ve loved to have seen way more of that, and him in general.
Silas was a treat and I adored him.
As I said, this is a fairly young book. I liked the books having a personality, and wanted to see more of that.
I also wanted to see more romance. It was billed to me as a romantic fantasy and I didn’t get that. There is *some* romance, but nowhere near enough to be a romantic fantasy.
Still, it was well written, and fairly easy to read, as well as a stand-alone, which was nice.
Just not a favourite of mine.

I posi-tute-ly adored this series!
I loved the strong cast of characters and how everything, right from the first book, was leading to the end of this one.
I loved the strong messaging throughout the book, which is super relevant to today (2021) despite being published a little while ago. It’s also sad it’s still relevant.
I loved each character’s arc, and their redemptions.
I loved the ending and who ended up together.
I loved everything about this series and I’m so glad I picked it up!

This was a promising book.
It started off a little confusing, then it cleared up, then it got weighed down in science and theories, and then it ended up taking a turn I’m not sure I like.
I was also waiting for a moment when the six came together, when they finally started liking each other and working together, but it never happened.
The timeline also moved in fits and starts and I wanted something smoother, more planned out.
There’s a lot to like about this book. The snark, the diversity, the theories.
But I also find there’s an equal amount not to like.

Again, I posi-tute-ly loved this book!
I liked how it seemed that everything was slowly coming together, and the characters meshed so well.
Ling, Henry, Memphis, theta, Sam, and my girl Evie were so great.
Side note: if Evie and Sam don’t even up together I’ll riot!!
I also love how raw and honest Libba is about the society at the time. As a biracial women it hits hard, but I also can’t help but notice how poignant it is for today as well.
I’m dying to know how it finished, but I’m also dreading it!

I was just getting nowhere in this book.
I liked the humour in it, but it was moving so slowly and was a little bit weird. I also didn’t entirely get it, either, so I’m giving this a miss.

This is a super sweet book. I loved the characters in this book, I loved the relationships in this book.
Jack is a great character. Suave, confident, funny.
Wil is sweet, innocent, but strong when it came down to it.
I also really loved Ruth and Jess.
I loved the fair setting, the jazz-time feel. I loved the queerness of this book as well.
There were also moments of darkness which were a great counter point. At times, I thought it may have been too dark, but was always pulled back before it went awry.
This is a great book, and I do recommend it!

I didn’t get far into this book because it was so slow and boring.
The blurb sounded great, but there wasn’t anything there to hook me.

This is an okay book. A little simple, a little Juvenile but not bad.
But, I had a thought while reading the book, and now that I’ve thought it, I can’t stop thinking it.
This book is a fantasy spin (rather than out and out dystopian) on the Hunger Games. And now I’ve thought that, I can’t get over it, and can’t continue to read it.

This is a solid YA fantasy book.
It’s not overly complicated, although there are a heap of twists and turns which I enjoyed.
I liked the cast of characters, Val and Chinua especially. I liked that Val wasn’t afraid of her emotions and that she for once in a ya fantasy book, communicated.
Although this book is relatively simple, it is complex in its detail, but is a good, quick read.
I’m super satisfied with this book, and look forward to the second one.

4.5 stars.
I really liked this book. I thought the first book was a little confused and messy, and while that continues in this book, we do get some answers.
There’s a definite shift here from YA to NA, with some seriously spicy, and some seriously questionable moments.
I really liked the addition of fauna and the bigger involvement of Anir.
I do wish wrath had a bigger part,’or we got to see Emilia with him more, and not just fantasies playing out.
I was on the fence about this series, but this book has fixed that for me. I’m here for the next book!
