I love Blake Pierce, but this wasn't a heart pounding suspense that I've found with his other books. It was still a good book, and if I ever finish my TBR, I'll read the next in the series.
slow-paced
This book was a slow burn, but it was suspenseful. The ending was really a shock. There is definitely an unreliable narrator. The theme of choices and how they impact our lives is prevelant. Definitely makes you think about your own life. It also has some romance thrown in.

I really did like the story. It was heartbreaking and suspenseful at times. It definitely has major triggers, but I found they weren't as bad, because they were through the eyes of Jack. However, one big problem have with the book is Jack's speaking/vocabulary; it is all over the place and not consistent. I understand it's from his POV, but it just wasn't consistently 5-year-old. There would be things that he would speak in full sentences talking about the Eiffle Tower, and then say "the under bed." It was just something that I noticed early on, and it bothered me for the rest of the book. There was also something that I found almost more disturbing that the actual horror they experienced. 😬

I listened to this book, which I feel made it much better, because there are so many different characters, it makes it more interesting to hear each of them. I was intrigued with the way the book was written. Almost like a "who-dun-it" in flashbacks with a bunch of rich housewives. The twist at the end was pretty entertaining.

I was honestly at the end. It's wild how she can create such a twist at the end of just a short story. Definitely a good, short read.

I had super high expectations. This book was slower for me than the first. The last quarter of the book starts to really come together and the ending is exciting. It's still a good sequel, just not as suspenseful all the way through as the first.

I was intrigued by this book from the get go. I honestly wasn't sure where the plot was going to go. Was it going to be a murder mystery? Were they in a game of cat and mouse? Was there really a huge prize at the end? I thought it was entertaining, suspenseful, and had an good ending.

This book was WILD for me. About halfway through, I was like, "did that really just happen?" It was really shocking and makes you question your own dark thoughts. I'm shocked the ending surprised me as much as it did. It felt like I got it. The emotion and honesty was real. And the mental health aspect is really well done.

I loved this book. It had me completely mind blown. The twist at the end was wild. I was in suspense the whole book trying to figure out what was going to happen. And I even had to go back and re-read some parts, because j was so mind blown.
