I loved this book. It had so much action. I was introduced to two new characters who were both such interesting people. I love how these books have such morally grey characters instead of perfect people who are either completely bad or completely good. It makes for an interesting and compelling story. I kind of hope VE Schwab writes another book in this world.
I was completely shocked by this book. I honestly wasn’t into it at first, but once we arrived at the Amber City, things really started to take off. The descriptions were lyrical and beautiful. I enjoyed the political intrigue so much. And the characters were great. I was never sure of who I could trust and that made the twists more exciting. I did figure one twist out, but it was still amazing.
This book was amazing. The writing style, the narrator. It was all perfect. It did seem a bit instalovey, but I enjoyed that aspect once I understood why that was the case. I can’t wait to get to the sequel.
I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and I liked how the relationship built between the characters. You could see it changing as it went along. However, I did not like the ending. I felt like the final conflict between Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky was not solved in any way and she just sort of starts liking him again out of nowhere. I feel like the final conflict could have been handled a lot better. It’s sort of unclear whether she actually meant anything to him because he could have been saying he had feelings for her to get her to kiss him and make Gen more jealous than she already was. And then he sort of ignores her, shows up at her party and they fight again and he leaves and they go back to ignoring each other, and then suddenly she likes him again, but we don’t know if he really likes her.
I also thought peter was really rude to Lara Jean for most of the book and I really didn’t like him, but then I started to see something in him and I really started to like him. You could see his feelings grow for Lara Jean. It was really sweet. But then we get to the final conflict and I change my mind about him again. I am still really excited to continue on and see what happens next though.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Julie Kagawa’s writing style and how easy it was to read. It felt like a contemporary novel with dragons thrown into it. I’m excited to read the next book in the series.
Will Shusterman is so good at writing. He has been able to create characters and plot lines that seem to have no meaning on their own and piece them all together to create an intricate story line. I loved how almost everything fell into place by the end but left enough open to make an interesting third instalment. This was an amazing read and I’m highly anticipating The Toll.
