I am not sure why I did this to myself. I need to stop going into books blind. A lot of his experiences hit too close to home 🫠
Please only read this book if you’re in a good place mentally currently and don’t struggle with anxiety.

Wow this book was so poetic, it felt like a modern fairytale. It is also so pretty with the illustrations.
I am glad I got to learn about the history elements, especially about Puerto Rico. I loved that the author left so much untranslated Spanish in the book, it felt very real and true to Benigno's identity.

“Río," I whispered, out of breath, and not from wheezing. "You make me feel like I'm kissing the tides." "Benigno," he whispered back. "You make me feel like I am holding the moon.”

I adore Maya. She is so bold and alive. I enjoyed the setting, the save the wedding plotline and getting to meet the characters from Not in Love again. It was so much fun.
I also love how Ali Hazelwood uses tropes, she’s always making fun of them a little bit and doesn't take them too serious xD

“Don't worry, Maya. You remain the reigning queen of my regrets.”
