I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. So many characters, I worried that it would be all about Percy and Jason and everyone else would be in the background. I'm so happy to say I was wrong. While I loved the interaction between Percy and Jason, I thought the other characters really came into their own. Piper was brilliant, sweet and strong. The relationship between Hazel, Frank and Leo was well done. The relationships between all the characters made this book great, the adventuring was in the background. Everyone learnt so much about themselves and each other, they learnt to trust one another. They are a team. It made my heart warm and fuzzy.
While this was a solid 4 stars while I was reading, I decided that once I finished this I wasn't going to go straight into House of Hades, I wanted a little break so I didn't OD on the world and characters.....
BUT.... After that ending and the tears, it moved to a definite 5 star and I'm going to get the next book, curl up in bed and probably stay up much to late immersing myself in the world all over again.

Ilona Andrews are consistently great. I love that when I want a PNR or UF I can go straight to their books and I know they will deliver, every single time.
I love their characters and I love their magic and the way it effects the worlds they create.
And this series has Rogan... don't get me wrong, I love Nevada, but Rogan is my latest book boyfriend. I love the slightly broken, protective ones. Mmm Alpha Male *insert sleazy drool face here.
If you like PNR, get into this series!!

I really liked it. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. I liked all the extra world building that we got in this one, that answered some of the questions I had throughout The Passage.
What makes this a 5 star read??? The lack of main characters, if that makes sense. We have Rand of course but everyone has their own story and it gets fleshed out just as well as Rands. I think the length of the series means that nothing is rushed, everything gets the coverage it needs to bring the story to life. No corners are cut in the story, it's all there for us to read.
Also Perrin... what a sweetheart, he makes me smile. The sweet innocence of him, love it.

I received this from the publishers, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was actually my first NetGalley score, so i'm pretty bummed I didn't like it. For a more detailed look, head over to my blog.
The idea of having a ship full of female mercs was great, it really speaks to the trends of what is popular in YA at the moment. So kudos to the authors for having their fingers on the pulse. For me though, it just didn't work. The writing wasn't great, I thought it could have used a lot more work, it seemed rushed and clunky. It's set in space so yes I guess its a sci-fi, but there was no science involved. I guess I just expected more. Picking this up was an absolute chore and I didn't want to finish it.
