If you ever wondered what it would be like to see all the fairly tale worlds together in one place, this the book.
There were a lot of characters in this book and I enjoyed it. There were parts where it felt a little confusing just because of the amount of characters and things that were going on. I loved that everyone had different magical abilities, the magic system was unique to the person and it was really cool.
It was a really nice start to the series.

To me this book is about self love.
It's a beautifully drawn story about learning one's worth and what you deserve. Not only that but knowing who your friends are and the people who do really care. This is something that is hard to grapple with and this book does it so well.
I'm not a fan of the Laura Deans of the world.. maybe they just need a little self love as well.

I love mysteries.
Stevie wants to be a detective and there's no better way to prove your worth like solving a cold case. I liked the setting of the story and how its told in the past and present. You get two mysteries for the price of one. I enjoyed Stevie's point of view and getting to know the other characters through her eyes. She's a really well written character. I also liked that Maureen Johnson didn't rush to put all the pieces together. It worked to keep you on the edge of your seat, and I was.
I was left with questions... I can't wait to get the answers.

Gender bent Count of Monte Cristo... yes please.
I liked the characters and the world. It was clever and well done. For fantasy, and me personally, it felt low stakes. It seemed like these characters always had an out, like they didn't feel like revenge was the only option. That doesn't change the fact that I enjoyed reading this book.
Here's hoping for higher stakes, all or nothing choices, and never having an out, sequel.

Max and his friends deserve five stars just for being themselves.
I loved it. I'm glad I accidentally purchased this book. I laughed and I definitely teared up on the inside. I just love when two characters are forced to hang out in close, terrible conditions. It brings out the worst in them and then it's happily ever after.
Im gonna check out Bill Konigsberg's other books because this one was great.

This book was awkward and funny and not so surprisingly I liked it.
I struggled with Rafe completely. I have a thing about lying, or in this case, not telling the whole truth. However when he was just hanging out with his friends and being himself it was great. This is what contemporary is, it's making mistakes and first love and learning who you are.
I loved the voice actor on the audio.. thats what really won me over.

This was a retelling of the 12 dancing princesses.
I liked it. There was magic and mystery and there were moments I just couldn't put it down. There were times when the book got dark and a little spooky. It was really well written. My biggest hiccup was the lack of diversity. It was an entertaining read and I really like solving mysteries.
Side note... were all her sisters really looking for husbands...

This little novella is told from both Rafe and Ben's perspective.
It was a nice look into their lives apart.
I'm excited to learn more about Ben and seeing where his story ends.

I love this book because kids, BIPOC kids especially, are starting to see themselves more in media and as heroes in history.
Don't get me wrong, there is so much work to be done. I'm glad this book exists because I would've loved it when I was a kid.
The artists work is really great too.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat.
There was so much going on. It was one thing after another and it just flowed. You had witches and witch hunters and three too many near death experiences. I was hooked from beginning to end. I listened to this on audio and the voice actor did such a great job.
This was a really great ending to the duology... and I wouldn't object to a companion novel...
