This book didn't flow like I thought it would and I was pleasantly surprised.
Maia was really bad at keeping secrets and I thought that would bother me, but it didn't. I world was fascinating and the magic was cool and Eden is great and deserves all the nice things. This book started off one way and then turned into a life changing adventure for these characters and I was here for it.
I'm excited to see how this story ends.

I don't think Becky Albertalli can write or co-write a bad book.
I listened to this book on audio and the voice actors were wonderful. These two authors wrote a very compelling book that covered heavy and prevalent topics in todays world. I stressed the issue that fighting for what you believe may be difficult and tedious everyone can make a difference, especially people not old enough to vote.
You're never too young to learn, to become passionate, to believe in something and then tell people what you believe in. It's so important for people to know this and this book gets that message across.
It's also funny and so cute and randomly hanging out in target should be a thing.

Trigger warning: this book deals with anxiety, depression and sexual assault.
This book was really good. Penny and Sam were both flawed and I loved how their story lines evolved. It was gradual build from friendship to more that didn't feel forced. I also felt that the portrayal of the panic attack one of the characters had was really well done. Panic attacks can manifest in many different ways and Choi did a good job of writing the scene in a way that felt real and genuine.
No one is broken, and no one should ever make you feel like you are.

Maybe it's because I'm an adult or maybe it's because of something else, but I just did not enjoy this book.
The audio book, narrated by Karen Gillan, was the selling point for me but this story.. I just couldn't relate to.
Disappointing, but I've never really been a fan of "classics."

This anthology is brilliant.
There was so much black boy joy and black girl magic sprinkled in all these stories written by truly amazing writers. It was really fun to read. Each story is contemporary and shows all the different aspects of what black people, especially young black people, can be.
I wish I had this anthology when I was a kid. Something that said that just because you grow up one way doesn't make you any less black. Something that said it's okay to be a nerd. Something that made me feel seen.
So good, so wonderful. I repeat, brilliant.

For a book that replayed the same day over and over again, it didn't feel very repetitive.
Jack was a well written, all around great guy and when time resets he's thrown into a loop learning and figuring out to do the right thing. How to be a good friend and son and person. Humor is used in a way to make the story feel light when sometimes life can seem pretty dark. Justin A. Reynolds created a world and wrote a story that wasn't redundant but instead heartening.
I did have issue with some of the hospital scenes though, knowing the author used to be a nurse. That doesn't change the fact that this was a great book.

I really wanted to love this book.
Cal's personality just threw me off. He was a social media influencer with strong morals and an even stronger following and that was awesome. The social media aspect of this book was great. Also when listening to the audio, parts of it felt like a radio show or podcast, it was really cool. Cal however, would just be annoying and then a not so great friend and it just kept throwing off the story for me.
Leon and his entire family deserve their own book.
I enjoyed all the drama. These families were going through it and it was great.

This is a book about the characters in the background. The characters that are just trying to live while the hero leaves a path of chaos and destruction all in the name of saving the day.
What I loved about this books is that we got snippets of what the heroes, or Indie Kids, were doing while everyone else was just trying to figure out high school. It was a good story with a great premise and okay characters.
I just hope Satchel's okay..

This book, written in verse, had such a magnificent flow.
It was clever and and brilliantly written. With each level down, Will is met with each time the cycle of violence has changed his life. The cycle that we hope he doesn't fall into. This elevator ride is the longest of his life and the choice he makes while on it decides who he is going to be.
This is a look at how deep rooted violence can be. It shows how suffocating a choice can be when it's the only thing you've ever been taught and seen and known.
This book was poignant and it really runs deep.

I wasn't a fan.
The plot and pacing felt all over place at times and the magic system lacked structure. That could be because the author went from planning a duology to this stand alone. Maybe that's where it missed the mark for me. Also this book was advertised as having an awesome crew of misfits but only being told from one perspective didn't give it that feel.
It took me three months to finish this book. I put it down a lot. Honestly, I'm surprised I finished.
