hated the ending

I was so ready to give this at least a 4.75 but the ending was so disappointing

i gotta put me first

if you're looking for a sign to start this book, this is it. ITS SO GOOD

This book was so different from the ones I normally read.
It deals with former child star Ryan Flannigan and our story starts when a risque photo of hers is leaked and found amongst the belongings of a pedophile, with a note attached where its seen that her mother gifted said  pedophile the picture.
The book itself was a really interesting commentary and analysis on how child stars are viewed and exploited by the media and the powerful plot was made even more interesting by Greenwood's strong writing. The dual time period added to the thrill of the book and I found myself finishing it in one sitting. Definitely one I would recommend for fans of thrillers and coming of age novels!

I was expecting a lot from this book and thankfully I wasn't disappointed at all!

These stories were not your typical horror stories with ghosts or serial killers running around, but what made them so chilly was this incompleteness they all had. For example, in the titular story it wasnt clear who (or what) exactly this houseguest was, and over the course of the short story I had about 5 different theories, each creepier than the other.

As is expected, of course, some stories were better than others but overall this was a chilling, macabre, and all around stellar collection of short stories.

This book is like a hot mug of tea on a cold winter evening, I don't know how else to describe it. Even though there were parts that made me want to sob my eyes out, there were some parts that were just so wholesome i sobbed my eyes out but in a different way.
Storyline aside, Harris' writing is absolutely spectacular. The way she has the ability to transform even the most mundane, everyday happenings into beautiful lines rich with imagery (much like the mending shop) left me in awe. I don't want to say much about the book because I believe its better to go into this one not knowing a lot but I will say it was a treat to read.
