Okay. So.
I completely sped through this one, and I feel it deserved more time. I might reread it later on, and give myself more time to fully, truly appreciate the book in full.
I liked all the characters in this one, though. Maybe some chapters dragged more than others, but that was rarely because of which POV it was told from. I loved having the lost trio, and I loved learning abt Nico (I didn’t read PJO, so I knew nothing abt him beforehand), and I enjoyed learning about Reyna and seeing her overcome her own fears.
I think the end was complete and utter bullshit though, and felt fucking lazy. I loved everything else about this, but Leo’s character was absolutely exhausting this time around. He was just kind of a dick, and I won’t pretend I didn’t get emotional when he “died”, because I did!
But that last chapter? Bull. Shit.!
I will always be upset about that, I will never understand why RR chose to include Calypso. I’m not saying I hated her, I didn’t, I felt very neutrally about her. But what did she contribute? It felt like she was only included to give Leo a girlfriend; which is a god-awful reason to include a character. Maybe RR was in his #FreeCalypso era or whatever.
Another thing? I will always be upset about Jason. He had his life taken from him. He didn’t even remember his name!! Percy got to remember his name, and Annabeth, but Jason woke up on that bus and didn’t even get to know who he was?? GODDDDD sorry. I love Jason Grace. Loved Apollo too, he was funny, being miserable. Love when book characters are miserable!!

I’m not quite sure how to write a review of someone else’s story—It doesn’t feel right.
I don’t typically read memoirs, and much less do I read non-fiction. But I can say that this was a beautifully written book that pulled me in so deeply. This is one of the very few (as in, one of two) books that have moved me to tears, and I definitely think it’s a book I would recommend to people—especially if you’re a big fan of memoirs (I can’t particularly say I am, but this was a very good one).
I think part of why this book hit me so hard, personally, is because of my mother. I love her; She is one of if not number one best friend, and I can’t imagine a world without her. I can’t really articulate the whirlwind of emotion I went through during the chapters detailing her mother’s illness—I was a wreck.

Emily Henry is a master of her craft. Everything about this book is just so perfectly catered towards me, in ways I cannot even fathom. Does she have a hidden camera in my house, watching me ?

I didn’t DNF this because it’s bad I DNFED because I’ve read it twice and don’t feel like a third time in the middle of a snowstorm AND STORYGRAPH WON'T LET ME DELETE THE DNF BUT THIS IS LITERALLY A FIVE STAR READ AND IT'S PISSING ME OFFFFFFFF
