The original movie didn't have much story, but then again it was a super short film. So I wanted to know what was added and the book came out before the movie so I read it. It's a nice enough story, it gives more indept view of the minor characters and how they came to be in the story. It shifts your focus a bit during the movie and in my opinion for the better.
Not as good as the first one, this book is just a big highly unlikely combination of things that happen. The first book is more realistic. Humor is the same so it was a fun read.
I try to do one autobiography a year and this year all the hype was for Michelle. The smartest first lady has a bit of a story and a big political agenda but she wants to tackle the issues she sees in a less political way. Nice easy read, a lot of repetition for some personal slogans. I wonder if those crept in because that is how she is or if the political speech train has gotten to her. The reading is smooth and the message is clear.
I still don't know why a dog's purpose was this. I think the expectations of a dog might be a bit too high. And there is a second book so in the end he didn't fulfill his purpose, I think.
The point of view is funny but simplistic. The reading level seems to be somewhere at late primary school level, but the dead body's and other things that are less pleasant make it too mature for that level. So to me it's an uncomfortable conflict.

They are crazy.
I didn't like this writing style at all, could not get into the flow of the book. Every time I tought I got it, they starting screaming Catch-22 again and it just makes little sense.
Also not a fan of war novels so that did not help. Would rather fly 70 missions than reread this book.

This book started out really normal, realistic, and then it slowly turned into less realistic holistic things. Weird methaphors and religion, this one was not for me.
The grass is greener on the other side.
The characters are easy to symapthise with and the story is a bit sad. It was alright but not great.

After liking her Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows book I wanted to do another one.
This one had more cultural lessons for me and some taboo things come to light as well. The sisters having so many issues at that particular time while it was planned it a bit of a stretch but hey it's fiction. Some of the things that happend are a bit frustrating as a reader, and I think anybody would connect with one of the sisters more than the others and thus preferring a certain point of view. Having sisters that are different from me it's nice to read about somebody else having some of the same issues.

This was very well done. I don't know how it got on my TBR list but I am glad I have one and digged through it to refind this gem. The double story was not necessary for me overal, just the dairy was enough for me. That is the strongest part of the book.
The way it is written is so nice, comforting, disturbing and enthralling. I just didn't want to stop and read the whole diary in one go.

I googled most disturbing Stephen King novel and this was in a top 10 somewhere. The summary seemed so simple, how could this be in a most disturbing list? So i checked it out. It is very nicely written, it grabs you and slowly you become part of it. I always love how Stephen King can take every day situations and slowly take you with him on a ride making it just that bit bizarre.
Skipped half the foreword because I can believe that the loss of Richard Bachman was tough on King but to be honest I just didn't care about that and it is not why I picked up the book.
