This book gave me all the feels. Only criticism I have is the twist at the end . It felt like a very unnecessary trick and, in my opinion, Eleanor's progress would have been more impactful without it.

When a book that's supposed to be a two-day read turns into five days, you know it's disappointing. I picked this up because it sounded so great, but it just did not deliver. I'm starting to think that me loving The Unhoneymooners was just a fluke and these authors are not for me.
I wanted a cute story, tension, good banter and I got nothing. I was just bored for most of the time and I couldn't seem to make myself care about the characters because they were just so damn bland. I was exhausted of the FMC being constantly horny at everything the MMC did. The poor man couldn't even scratch his head without the FMC becoming weak in the knees. The way she talked about him wasn't cute or sexy, it was borderline creepy and gross and objectifying. Overall, I felt like the progression of the romance made no sense and was rushed. I just didn't see why they would like each other because there was no chemistry between them. The thing with the FMC's mum added exactly nothing to the story and just made her look like a dumb piggy bank at the end.
The only positive aspect of this book was Fizzy.

The rating is solely for the writing and not an assessment of the author's horrific story. It was just incredibly difficult to read because of the book's jumbled and incoherent nature.

Such an interesting take on the original fairytale! I was worried it would be too fairytale-y, but that wasn't the case at all. The only thing that really bothered me about the story itself was the damn bowl on Shiori's head! I felt like it made the curse ridiculous, not to mention it made no sense in the story because people were deathly afraid of anything magic, but didn't question how someone with a damn bowl on their head can see everything around them?!

I am not a hateful reviewer, but honestly absolutely fuck this book and perhaps even fuck this author too. I was planning to read The Housemaid, but after learning it's a rip off of another book, plus now this abomination, it's a no from me.
This is one of the most frustrating books I have ever had the displeasure to read. After the 40% mark, I was hate reading it purely because it was a buddy read.
The MC has ZERO redeeming qualities and NO personality aside from being a complete dumbass trainwreck. The writing is just so incredibly bad. The same information is being presented over and over and over like it's something brand new. It seems like the MC has a maximum of five things she is able to think about. She is so spineless, so naive, her choices make no sense. It's a miracle she has even managed to live to late 20s and raise a human being. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I had to put the book down during EVERY CHAPTER because she was being stupid and I needed to rant to a friend. And the chapters are SHORT (3-7 pages). She flip-flops between sides more than a fish on dry land. She has zero regard for her son's wellbeing. I could go on and on.
Even though you can guess some parts of what happened, the author loves a good red herring and I don't appreciate that. The ending was idiotic, which was at least on brand, I guess.

I really adored some parts. It starts out very strong and ends the same way. From the middle part, I loved it when Charlie wrote about his abusive childhood. There were some parts I didn't like as much and some that made me completely zone out. I don't know if it was purposeful, but I noticed that my opinion of Charlie reflected that of people in the book. I started out wanting to protect him and feeling bad for him, which then gradually evolved into dislike the more intelligent he got, and at the end I was right back where I started.
I love the themes it explores. It really makes you reflect on what kind of a person you are and how people that are different are treated by society/how invisible they are.
Also funny side note, but for the longest time I thought this book was about a mouse. Surprisingly, very little mouse content, lol.

I enjoyed this one a lot! There were some things I managed to put together, but I could not figure out the ending. Kept me on my toes the entire time.

A nice change from the darker stuff I usually love to read, but I felt that it was a little bit drawn out. I wasn't too keen on the ending either – a bit too sickly sweet for me. Wallace's character development wasn't as gradual as I'd have liked and I'd have preferred him moving on because him coming back to life kind of.. went against all the progress he made and the point of the story.
But what I did like was how the author dealt with a heavy topic in a lighthearted manner. It was even kind of comforting at times and got a few tears out of me.

An unexpectedly delicious mystery. It has vibes similar to Gone Girl and I loved it. There are some clues to figure out minor parts of what's going on, but for most of the book I was completely in the dark, attempting to piece it together.
