I finished this a few hours ago but my life got super busy so I forgot to update. Anyway, this was such a good sequel! I really loved seeing Ember’s emotional journey and the exploration of magic was fantastic. I can’t wait for the third one because I want to know what happens next!!
I always feel bad leaving the first poor review on a book but I wouldn’t be a very good reviewer if I wasn’t honest. I really struggled following the plot because I couldn’t figure out what it was. The illustrations were cute but they looked like someone was drawing people on top of an animated video game background which threw me off.
I would like to preface this by saying that the author is my father and I am so proud of him for writing and publishing his first ever book!
Now onto my review: This guide to a career as a postdoc is written in an approachable and conversational way. Even though I have no intention of working towards a PhD, there is advice here for me. I got tips on applying for jobs and networking at events. It is short, sweet, and to the point in an understandable and accessible way.
I highly recommend this book!

I highly recommend this book!
I found my attention lacking in some points but otherwise it was mostly a great book! I really like the magic system and how intricate it is.
The author was kind enough to gift me a copy of this book and this review reflects my honest opinion.
Children’s books aren’t my go-to but I have many young cousins (and a cat that I read to) so I am familiar with the genre. I actually really loved this story, especially the cute illustrations. The message of being open to magic in the world is a wonderful one and this book communicates it well.

A fast paced and short book that I enjoyed every second of. I would recommend this book to middle grade students looking for a book that explores right and wrong as it relates to superpowers.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book in the first third but then the pace really picked up and I fell in love with the pirate crew.
SHE DOES IT AGAIN! A stunning conclusion to a stunning trilogy. I will never be able to get over how incredible Dugan is at crafting plot and character, truely a masterclass.
This is the best book I have ever read. It broke my heart over and over again and made me question everything about my life. This is absolutely a must read.
