There was so much happening here and I don’t understand how there can still be so much yet to happen.

Is it a cop out to just say I found this book to be really boring? I feel like that’s not an original thing to say but, there’s nothing redeeming or interesting about this story to me.

Truly just a lot of fun. I really love this series!

Overall I think it’s an enjoyable memoir. I like hearing the authors perspective on life in America and her interludes about other immigrants.

Very dramatic, but in a good way. I think the story is compelling, and I was interested to see how it ended, but I think somewhere in the third volume I lost a bit of my interest because it felt like more of what had already been happening. All in all, an interesting read.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I did the novel. I felt like the art was fairly busy, and the text font and size made it difficult for me to read. The actual story by Butler is of course fantastic, and I feel like Duffy fit the story well to the adaptation, just the execution of art and text didn't do it for me.

I feel like I was less interested in this installment than the first one until I got closer to the end. it felt a little drawn out in places, but overall kept with the same mood as it had before.

Honestly, this really felt like the draft of a novel. I think the plot was there but not executed well, and moved a bit too conveniently. It felt like we were being told what was happening more so than experiencing it. Also, I cannot believe in any way the relationships between any character in this novel, except for Taj and Omar. It seems like once we reached the palace the story just kinda fell apart and was a skeleton of what the author wanted it to be. As a result, the stronger characters began to quickly fall flat, and anyone new who was introduced just didn’t get developed at all. In short, I think this book fell well below where I wanted it to be, which is a shame because I feel like it has a lot of potential.

As always, I love this authors sense of atmosphere. I think this is a story with a lot of layers you could peel back and really think about, but is also just a fun read!
