Moon Called is the first book in the "Mercy Thompson" series. This is a series I have been itching to read for at least a decade. I tend to be very picky around UF books. To be honest, I never feel like they have enough romance, however, sometimes when I am in a certain mindset, I can really enjoy them. In this one, I did read Moon Called through audio which I think was a really smart decision. Especially with the romance just barely getting off the ground in this one. Maybe once the romance is more steady, I can switch to the ebook.

Moon Called was a really fascinating setup for the beginning of this series. I really enjoyed the way this story was written. It had some interesting intricate details that were blended into the story very well. I also really enjoyed Mercy's character. She was a surprise for me because she isn't your average UF heroine. She is a blue-collar heroine and isn't overpowering which makes her more relatable. What I tend to struggle with in UF is the too-strong heroines that can be cringe worthy. But Mercy was very likable in ways that I didn't expect her to be. I also was all over the fact that she
had a nature that isn't typical in UF. She isn't controlling but adaptable to whatever situation that she is placed in. We are also introduced to two men that she has a "bit" of interest in. Sam (who is the doctor and believes her to be his mate) and then we have the alpha of the pack "Adam" who was sexy as sin. I love this grump who is also a single dad. Their interactions were sexy but also witty and endearing.

It's not a five-star read (but it TAKES a lot for UF to get 5-star status for me) But it was a very solid read and I can't read the next book in the series.

 My Review:

Hunted By A Shadow is the third book in the Kings of Mafia. This is basically a blend of a stalker romance with a slight beauty and beasty retelling. I really adore it when this author writes some retellings, they are so fun to be honest. In this one we have a really emotional read....LIKE I WAS SOBBING TEARS haha So just be ready for this book to tear you apart emotionally. We also have a mix of mafia, very dark content and stalking and some manipulation. I would recommend if you get triggered in ANY way that you check the trigger warnings for it. I did really enjoy this one and I flew through this book so quickly. And I was so sad when it was over. I really fell hard for this couple, but this author never really writes long books so when I really love it, its tough to let go of it. This also deals with certain crimes of organ transplants which are forced. I found the premise of it very dark in some ways, more so than I normally see from this author so it definitely kept me on the edge from beginning to end. I really was fascinated by this story though and even though there were parts that tore me up, I can see why the author wrote it the way that she did, it really brings this couple together in the seige of such intense emotion and hardship. We see how well they connect with each other when it matters most. I really adored the male friendship bonds in this one though, some great bromance elements here.

Overall I had such a blast with this one and I can't wait to read Franco's book (I skipped it because I wasn't in the mood for the premise, but after seeing them in their HEA I just need their story haha)

My Review (May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review)

I absolutely adored this one and while I was hoping for something more with this book, it was still a solid read that I didn't want to put down. Just been a busy week so it took a bit to get through for it. I really enjoyed the tropes that enter into this story and really added a unique dynamic for our couple. I also love a class difference romance and the beautiful pining in this story is so delicioius. They are both pining for each other and since there is a class difference, its not exactly encouraged for them to be together. However, you see how determined they are and also how that pining isn't go away nor is it temporary. I love the ways in which they find their path and their HEA was definitely fully satisfying. There wasn't anything specific that I necessarily struggled with, I think there was some aspects to the plot that just slowed the pacing down a bit. Overall I had a fun time with this one and am really sad that this is the last full length novel of the series, as that means I am almost through with this authors books.

 Quickie Review-(May contain spoilers)

So I wanted to really enjoy this one, as I had loved the first book. I should have been aware of who the heroine is though. So my issue with this book is the heroine. I gave it till about 50% and I just had to set it aside. The heroine was very toxic and honestly TSTL. Normally I am not super picky about that but why can't author's write journalistic heroines better? My issue with the heroine was she was willing to do anything for a story including risk the hero's life. She literally tells the hero he is fine and he can handle himself. Basically shrugging it off like its no big deal that she is willing to put his life at risk so she can get her story. And it just got worse as the story moved forward and not seeing how this author can redeem this heroine, so will be setting it aside.

First Impressions
Leopard’s Hunt is the NEWEST release in the Leopard People series by Christine Feehan. This is book #14 and I can’t believe we are this far in this series. It just feels like yesterday when I read the beginning books of this series. Its actually not as old as some of her others. I was really excited for this one and this is an author that I really just auto buy and just dive into her books so quickly and easily. This is one of my most anticipated reads for the WHOLE YEAR! That is how excited I was for this one. I just loved the previous book so was eager to see what she would handle with this one here. Even though the heroine is kick ass, I trusted in Feehan to deliver and she DEFINITELY did that with this one here. Lately Feehan has been writing a ton of kick ass heroines and I am kinda drained of it, I miss her softer heroines, BUT I will say that she made this heroine really work for me when I was NOT in the mood for her, so that should tell you how flawlessly written this book is.

First Line
Gedeon Volkov had been a fixer for years--and he was considered the best in his field.

Summary
This book starts out with Gorya Amurov, who has taken over his lair who has been corrupt for years with drug and human trafficking and he is putting a stop to this modern age slavery. So many leopards are getting caught up in it and he is determined to win this war against it, no matter what he has to do to stop it. But he knows that he and his leopard are more ruthless than most in his circle. He hires on Gedeon and Meiling to kill him when he has gone too far. But then through a turn of fate, he finds a woman locked in a basement, who is just as lethal as he is and without hope for anything good in this world just like he is. Maya Averina was taken as a child, and raped and tortured and lost her whole family. But now she is coming through her first heat, and she finds her mate in the most unlikely of circumstances. A man who is cold and ruthless but calls something to her and is just as lost and without hope just like she has been and they connect to each other. Their leopard’s encouraged both of their humans and their romance has been one that was encouraged by their animals. But they find such solace and healing in each other while also fighting the threat to their lair and a hidden conspiracy to destroy them and their work against the human trafficking rings…

What I Loved
Leopard’s Hunt BLEW my mind! Christine Feehan definitely delivered a story that is guaranteed to keep you on edge from beginning to end. And this book is where we get a serial change of sorts and I love it when she does these plot building that gives hints on what is coming up next. I honestly didn’t know what to expect about this one, but it was way different than I expected going into it. I also was so ALL IN for this romance. I loved both of these characters. Gorya and Maya have such pain and heartache and your heart immediately goes out to them and the struggles that they have faced. Despite how powerful and kick ass both of them are, they have such vulnerabilities and they don’t fight their attraction or their bond like you would expect from such strong personalities. The relationship just flows so smoothly despite the fear and reservations that they have regarding it. We get some old favorites including DRAKE and some connections to what happened in “Savage Nature” and I really adored that connection there. The plot is really thrilling and wow the plot connections is so crafty and cunning and such evil is in these villains here. It does get pretty intense in that respect, so make sure you know what to expect going into this. It really tackles some tough issues and its one of the elements to this author’s writing that I really respect. I love that she writes about real issues that not many authors are willing to address especially in matters of human trafficking.

What I Struggled With
The pacing in the second half was a bit off for me, I had a hard time really keeping up with the story and there was a couple of plot holes or maybe I just accidentally missed them. Normally Feehan is really good about making sure these don’t happen. But otherwise it was a powerfully written story that if you love anything paranormal, you need to read it!

Overall View
Leopard’s Hunt is a true masterpiece of thrilling plot devices, characters that will tug at your heartstrings, and a story that will addict its readers in like a moth to flame in such a stunning delivery to pack the punch that only this author delivers! A WONDROUS INSTALLMENT TO MELT YOUR HEART FROM BEGINNING TO END!

Favorite Quote(s)
“You’re never going to lose me, Maya. Never. I’d find my way back from hell to get to you.”

I can’t breathe without you, Gorya. I’ll never be the same. I haven’t been able to breathe without you since the moment I laid eyes on you. We belong together. The pair of us. Broken. Damaged. We wor together. No matter what happens, we fit…

Baby. We’re already woven together. The same heart. The same soul. The same skin. They broke us to pieces and when we put our pieces together, we became one. You. Wraith. Me. Rogue.

Quickie Review (May contain spoilers, please be responsible)

The Emperor is the book that features a couple that was teased in the first two books. This one has such beautiful pining in it. There is something about the heroine pining after the hero that just works for me so well. And I really enjoyed the secret relationship dynamic that comes into play with this one here. I think I loved the first book a bit more than one, but only slightly. I did enjoy the heroine of this book way more though. I just love a softer heroine in a mafia romance. This also had a mix of unique tropes that really came out together in such a intense intriguing way. This is also a story that reading the first two books, will add more dimension to the characters. I was so grateful I had read these books in order and closer together. And I am so excited for the next book in the series. Its going to be purely fascinating that is for sure.

Colter's Woman is a reverse harem romance. I actually think I might have read one of the books from this series and I hadn't been a fan and probably why I put off this author for as long as I did. I just grabbed this one hoping that maybe I would enjoy it better but yeah I see why I struggled with these books. I do think these aren't this authors' strongest writing but it could also be the reverse harem aspect. That is NOT my cup of tea and the more I try I out, the more I realize its not a trope I like at all hardly. Every once in a while I can find one that will work for me, but for the most part its a trope I avoid. I really struggled with it at times. This isn't the worst RH that I have ever read though. but its definitely not the best. I really didn't know if I wanted to DNF this one or not, the pacing in this book was a bit off. Not sure I will continue the series, or if I do I will pace it out quite a bit.

First Impressions
Wild for You is the first book in the newest series by Kristen Proby "The Wilds of Montana" and I was super stoked for this one and I am not going to lie and say that I grabbed this for the cover. I mean this author really does great covers, but this one takes the CAKE! It has such a ethereal feel to it and it definitely has rancher in Montana vibes in it. Wild For You is a superb story and if you are in your small town era, then this book needs to be at the top of your list. I absolutely adored just about everything about this book. The author especially focused on the atmosphere so well and I was so impressed. I mean I have read her books over the years but this is the best work she has done in my opinion.

First Line
Numb, and not a little lost, I turn from the window that looks out to Boseman, to the woman standing behind me.

Summary
The premise of the story is that Erin Montgomery has come from her home in Seattle, when she came to Montana for a trip with her cousins and fell in love with the scenery and knew that she couldn't ever leave. Knowing she had the stability of her trust fund that her father, Will Montgomery, set up for her, she knew that she had found her home. When she is hired by Remington Wild to be a nanny for his two young children, chemistry only grows between them. Remington is the oldest of the Wild siblings, and in charge of running the ranch in place of his parents retiring and trying to be the father to his kids. But Remingtn and Erin are becoming quickly attached to each other and being in such close quarters, only brings them closer than ever...

What I Loved
This romance was just simply adorable. I loved their dynamic. It takes a little while before we really see them together, but their chemistry is well built throughout the story. I really had such fun seeing them grow as a couple. We get so many strong family vibes within this one. Both Remington and Erin come from strong family dynamics and they really connect on family values and I enjoyed these aspects. I also really found Erin such a wonderful heroine in how she is with Remington and the kids. She was strong but kind and her character was so loveable in many ways. The atmosphere was so well written, so if you are a fan of Catherine Cowles, then this is definitely a book I would recommend out to you for sure. I am very curious about the feud that was mentioned in this one and to see if this will be explored and how it will be as we get more books from the series.

What I Struggled With
So I struggled with the communication issues. The heroine was the one that wouldn't be honest with the hero and never seemed to realize how wrong it was and honestly she should have done some sort of groveling and never did. I mean learning from her father things before she told him when it could have put his family in danger ....yeah that is a no no.

Narration
SO SO GOOD! It has Sebastian York, so you just know it will be superb. But both of these narrators really worked so well together in finding that good balance with the various tones that fit just right.

Overall View
Wild For You is a captivating small-town romance that is packed with heart and endearing characters to melt your heart and guarantee swoons for the wilds in Montana!

Quickie Review: (May contain spoilers, be responsible in reading this review)

Enemies was a truly fantastic read! I had so much fun reading this one. And reading it made me realize how much I have truly missed reading this author and I definitely need to read her more often. She especially writes such solid angst and it delivered so well on the page. And a FAMILY FEUD....YES sign me up. I actually had no clue going into this book that it had those aspects. The blurb was a bit different than what the story actually was. But despite that I really had a time of my life with this book. They both had such great personalities and seeing them find common ground and get to the truth behind the conflict between them was just right. The only issue that I had with this book was the third act conflict. It was just a bit weird, and the heroine should have done a grovel too in this one. She did some wrong too so it would have been nice if she had done some redemption as well. Overall, I had a blast with this book and was beyond entertaining and if you love contemporary enemies to lovers====READ THIS ONE!! I promise you won't have regrets!

 Quickie Review (DNF )

So I am going to make this one short. I will probably come back to this book eventually. Just for right now I don't think its a book that I am interested in. It started out fabulous but then fizzled out quickly. Not sure if its just physically reading it (I normally do her books in audio) or what it actually was about this one but it just wasn't quite what I was expecting and seemed different than what I thought it would be going into it. Probably later in the year I will grab up the audio and see if that works better for me.
