Summary

Max Romanovin, is Oxenbrug's Military General as well as one of its princes. Max has dedicated his life to serving his country and the military and fighting along side his men. He has spent years and resources building his army strong and resilient. Max is escorting his grandmother up to the Highlands, to a house party to recover a item that his grandmother needs from the owner. Along the way, they get stopped by a band of highwayman thieves, and is led by a young man who intrigues him, a local "Robin Hood". Now this Robin is not what he or she appears to be. Max is interested and is quick on his feet and is intelligent enough that he notices something more and intends to hunt down this mysterious "Robin Hood" and his band. Lady Murian, is a widow and is bent on getting justice not just for her husband's death, but for herself and her servants who were cast out. To survive, they found a hut village in the woods, and are barely making it by. She is driven to get her land back and for the man responsible to pay for his crimes. Then she meets the Prince of Oxenburg, and for the first time in a long time she is captivated, but knows there can never be a future with him....or can there be?

The Hero

Max, or also known by his official name Gregori Romanovin, is a fierce protector and a battle ready prince. He is always on guard, and ready for anything. He is cunning and quick-witted about the little things. Ever since he lost his closest friend in battle and had to reveal the news to his friends wife and their son, it devastated and changed him. Max is determined NEVER to marry, no matter what. He refuses to put a woman he loves to suffer so much from his death. He is content with this life as it is, with his family and fighting for his country and the people he loves. Max is honorable, kind, stubborn and playful. He is the type of character you immediately gravitate towards. He is a fierce warrior but has a loving heart. You see this instantly with him and from the first page you are drawn to his character. There is so much more depth to him, and the reader senses it from the very beginning. We see how creative and crafty he is, and how much he notices in the little things. Hawkins is so talented in writing her heroes, and Max I fell for hard, I surely wish he was real, though. Max is the type of hero that has many strengths, but some flaws too that makes him seem more real and alive to the reader. Sexy and passionate!!

The Heroine

Lady Murian, is young and a widow. Murian cared much for her husband that was killed. She was shocked when she was booted off her own land, as well as the innocent people that worked for her and her husband and were also cast out. Murian was forced to make some difficult choices and is the leader of their group. By banding  and working together, Murian and her people have created a small village in the woods, mostly widows, and young children. She has devoted everything she has to seeing to their needs and well-being. But she is also driven by the need of finding the truth about her husbands death and bringing the man that stole everything from her to justice. Murian is a fighter and was taught well, but she is also smart and loving. Murian was a heroine that was so down to earth and I loved how easy it was to relate to her. You see, as the reader, how much you can connect with her, and relate with her on many things. I love her protective nature, she has spirit, but also is kind and gracious and sees the good in others. She does what needs to be done, no matter the cost to herself.

Plot and Story Line

The Prince and I, is a story I have been waiting for quite a long time. Ever since these prince brothers were first introduced to us in her previous series, The Duchess Diaries. Let me first shout out how truly AMAZING this book is. It's one of those books, where from start to finish I was smiling the whole time because it was so good. Now I love Karen Hawkins, but I love what she has done with this series so far. This series is based on a royal family, brothers and each brother plays a different role in running the kingdom. Then we have the grandmother, I thought I should mention her first in my review because she plays a role in all of the books where these brothers step in. And she is one lively character. She is romany, and is quite crazy and intent on all of her grandsons getting married. Nothing stands in her way. She is definitely a force of nature and wildly entertaining. Now I believe that this series and the Duchess Diaries series could be in the same series because they are connected to each other. But I do see why they are a bit separate. This series is a focus on the family.

Now it begins quite quickly and way easy to get into the story. In case my readers are wondering, this is the type of book you need to be careful when you start reading it. I made the mistake of starting it late and staying up all night (or day, since with my profession I sleep during the day and stay out all night....I would be a vampire, but I don't suck blood hehe )And I mean all night...till 5 and I loved every moment of it. I honestly hope this review can portray how wonderful this book truly was for me. In fact, top favorites are the category I will place this book in. It begins with the scene of Max and his grandmother traveling in their carriage up to northern Scotland and they get held up by forest brigands. Now Max, from the first moments, is thinking with his head, not his brawn (which is another thing I loved about his character). He is cunning, and he watches every tiny detail. The play between our "Robin" and the prince is quite entertaining, and Max stays one step ahead of them. I loved this scene because you see so much from both sides, and it really sets the stage for the rest of the story. We even get a bit of a fighting scene between them...boy was that fun!!

Now after this scene and both sides go on their merry way, we also find that these two are very much intrigued by each other. Max is fascinated with this Robin Hood and wants to find her. And through a course of events, these two have a bond one that is both flirty and building a friendship of sorts. We see that they are attracted to each other, but don't act on it immediately. They pace themselves, and the focus is more on learning each other and building a trust. We see then the danger that Murian is in, and her people and Max has his own reasons for helping out. But you see that even though he has something he needs from the "villain" of the story, we also see how much he and his own band of merry men cares for both Murian and those she protects. Then this is where we get some plot twists, and a mix of danger and a little thrills that build up the pace of the book. What was most intriguing was seeing how well Hawkins balances the plot and the relationship of Max and Murian.

The romance that develops between Max and Murian is quite endearing and seriously...I just couldn't put this down. I tried because I was exhausted and tired, but I just had to know more. It was interesting seeing the process of Max and Murian finding a balance with each other. Which when they weren't being interrupted all the time (which was quite funny right when certain things were getting a bit heated), they really connect with each other. There were so many different elements to their relationship that makes this story so unique and delightful. There were a couple of times I felt it was predictable, but then something would happen that I definitely didn't see coming and would throw me all over the place....and whew I loved every delicious moment!! This is a book that is a must read for any romance lover, now I know I recommend many books. But honestly this book was so fun, sweet, lively and full of those enchanting moments where it steals its way slowly into your heart and stays there!! This is not a book you want to miss out on....READ NOW!!

The Cover

I ADORE this cover, I LOVE this cover, I lust after this cover!! I love everything about it. So romantic, love the sweet pose, with the hero behind her, and what a uniform, his hand on her chin ---loves that, and I love her dress and she even has her bow and arrow!! And what a lovely forest setting too...which definitely connects with the story. Its so playful and fun and makes me want to jump right into it!!

Summary

Madeline Gracechurch, is talented and pretty, but is awkward in social situations. She suffers from panic attacks whenever she is around a big group of people. She knew that she could never survive the Ton, and the numerous parties and balls. So she concocts a story of being engaged to a soldier that she met in bath. She creates letters, and mails them knowing that the person she has created is not real. Its been five years and she has just informed everyone that he is dead so that she can move on with her life and get past the lies she has had to say. She has just been gifted a piece of land and a castle in Scotland. But then a stranger shows up on her front door and claimed to be her Scottish sweetheart, Captain Logan Mackenzie. Logan MacKenzie is determined to save his men. The men he fought for and battled with and when they returned home to have either their families killed or driven off by English Lords who took advantage while most of the men were away fighting their war. He has a group of men, who need a home and after receiving letters for five years...he knows just the place and Miss Madeline Gracechurch is the way...he will marry her and will have a home for his men, he owes them that much. But what beings as a practical arrangement, soon turns into something more real....zesty passion and true love.

Plot and Story Line

When A Scot Ties The Knot is a wonderful love story and I really loved the tangles and the web these two try to work their way towards. This is the third book in the series, but I have to say its probably my least favorite. Not to say that I didn't enjoy this book and how events play out, but for the first half I had a challenge getting myself into the story. It just didn't really connect with me, until I got about half way. Which was a bit disappointing, because I adore Tessa Dare, and this is the first time I have had such troubles getting into one of her books. But once I got halfway into the book, then I was hooked. I will say that there were quite a few memorable moments in this one. The soldiers that Logan has brought with him for one. I loved them all, they are all wounded in some form and have come home to learn that most of their loved ones are gone, their ship to Canada having been sunk. Logan even though he is forcing Maddie's hand, will do anything to provide a safe environment for them. I really admired that dedication and see how much he respects those men under him. But Logan isn't just any Captain...he worked hard to get to Captain when he started as a foot soldier. Logan has never known family or what it's like to love. So you see how he is very much out of his element when it comes to Maddie. Now Maddie, I truly wanted to like her character but had a hard time, especially in the beginning however I grew to like her as we learn more about her past and the reasons behind her shy nature. I liked how tenacious and stubborn she is, and quite the creative sort. She is super smart especially when it comes to animals and insects. And oh boy her pets....the two lobsters and the whole mating ritual, quite fascinating. I really enjoyed seeing these two battle it out at times. Both of them go into a bout of denial into what they feel for each other. But boy did this story have some lively scenes, and once these two started to open up to each other than it just came together quite well.
I'd have to be dead in my grave before I stopped fighting for you, Madeline. Even then, I'd move six feet of earth to find a way

The Cover

It has such a sweet and romantic tone to it, with a hint of playfulness. I love the tone of colors, with the teal and pinks. And isn't that male just gorgeous....love a man in a kilt right? And with the added castle backdrop....simply gorgeous!

Summary

Heath Hextall considers being an Earl a pain and a bother and he would much prefer working on his business than dealing with members of the Ton. All he needs now is an amiable wife to take care of his domestic matters so that he can focus on his shipyard and his business affairs. Even though he is attempting to court a lovely and biddable but intelligent woman, except there is one problem: he can't stop thinking about one woman, Lady Josephine Somerhall. But Joss is not just any woman, she was a girl who played with him and her brother when they were kids and then she vanished one day, known to be a traveler and studying abroad. Now she has returned and has not changed one bit. Still wild and sassy smart, and keeping him on his toes. But suddenly Joss and Heath and brought into a mystery and a danger, when Heath's friend is killed with secret papers, enemies that are looking for what they know, secrets of the Templar and soon Joss and Heath will be in danger of their lives if they don't get down to the secret, that could lead to Bonaparte returning to France and taking over once again...

The Hero

Heath Hextall made a name for himself, he built up a ship yard business, loves his travels especially going back and forth between American and England. But when he became an Earl, his life changed, and he is struggling to maintain a balance of his responsibilities. Heath's household is falling apart, and he has decided what he needs is a wife to take care of the matters between butlers and maids so he doesn't have to. Heath is content with marrying a nice and lovely wife, one that he can be content with and won't drive him crazy like Lady Josephine. But Joss is the one woman he is constantly thinking about and can't stop thinking about. Heath was a great hero, at first he is a bit arrogant and conceited, but honorable and hard working. He isn't ashamed of what he has become or what he has built for himself, even though members of his class are very disapproving of it. He is protective of Joss which I loved, and I adored how he handles her at times.

The Heroine

Lady Josephine Somerhall has always cared for Heath ever since they were kids. She chased Heath and her brother around, always wanting to prove herself to this boy that won her heart, even if he didn't know the different between a frog and a toad. Then a situation developed with her father, and for her own safety and well being she was sent away from the home she loved and the boy she couldn't get enough of.
"Then what the hell were you doing in my bed?"

"That is.."

He closed the distance between them in three steps. He reached down and tipped her chin up, forcing her eyes back to his. The dark desire he saw reflected in her gaze nearly undid him right there.

"I wanted.."

He dropped to a knee in front of her, his eyes level with her own. "What? You wanted what, Joss?"

"I wanted to feel what it would be like. To belong to you."

She has traveled many parts of the world and has become a highly educated woman with a spirited nature that has developed over the years. Now she works with her mother to help those unfortunate women who need aid from abusive situations. Josephine isn't your average heroine and I had quite a fun time with her character. She is passionate, fierce in her desires to help others, creative and cunning, loved the way her mind worked. I love how crafty she is and the way she handles any situation no matter how dangerous.

Plot and Story Line

You're The Earl I Want is a story that I immediately liked. Kelly Bowen has a talented way of creative beautiful stories that make this era come alive for me that not many authors can do for me. Every book I have read from this series just makes me yearn for more from this author. I love how each story has a unique situation with a level of intrigue and danger to it that mixes so well with the love story that she evenly balances out. In You're The Earl I Want we see a childhood sweethearts trope come alive. Both Heath and Joss have cared for each other. Joss knows exactly who she wants and its always been Heath. Heath, however, has always liked her, but he doesn't fully realize it until Joss comes back into his life.
I've been spending too much time looking for other things I thought I wanted. Things I thought were the right things and would make me happy. But they didn't. They never could. I want you, Josephine Somerhall. On whatever terms you wish. It's only ever been you.

Even though Joss has never really desired marriage, there is one person she wants more than anything...Heath. This was a unique set up because at the beginning we see how against marriage Joss is because Heath doesn't really see her as a potential wife and she KNOWS it. She isn't exactly biddable or passive. Quite the exact opposite. Joss is spirited and lively and brings passion to Heath. These two are brought into a world of mystery and danger. They need each other and start to work with each other to discover what is really going on and get to the bottom of this mystery that ended up with the death of one of Heath's friends. There were so many aspects of this book that I fell in love with but one of my favorites was seeing Heath and Joss reconnect with each other and discover a passion they have for each other. And honestly I love espionage in a romance, and Bowen's handles this aspect beautifully. It is a focus of the story, but it balances evenly with the love story that develops between Heath and Joss. We also see a small side plot of Heath's right-hand man. We also see how desperate certain supporters of Bonaparte were to bring him back to power after he was exiled. Interesting plot twist and loved the historical relevance come into play into this story. This was a story that is a must for historical lover, sweet and exciting.
I want you all the time, Josephine Somehall," he growled. "I want you from the second I wake up until the moment I work myself into a exhausted stupor that allows me to find sleep. I want you like this, naked and hot and sweaty, every time you're near me. every time you touch me. Every time you look at me. If I didn't have you, I would have lost my mind.

The Cover

Such a lovely cover here. I love her peach dress with the yellow ribbon and holding a rose. Her expression is so mischievous and playful, and full of secrets. And I like the contrasts of the blue and green staircase in the background. This is definitely my favorite cover so far in this series.

Overall View

You're The Earl I Want is a story that is a delightful romp with a dose of danger, hint of sensuality, a smidgen of mystery and quite a lot of rediscovering a love that has always existed between these two!! A STORY TO CRAVE!

Scotsman of My Dreams was a charming and sweet romance with a sparkle of angst in here. I have really enjoyed what Karen Ranney has done with her books, and Scotsman of My Dreams was no different. I honestly don't know how to express what this story did for me. Now there were times I was in and out of the story (but I have been dead tired all day, so that might have something to do with it). It begins with out heroine searching for her missing brother, and so she goes in search of the one man that should know where he is at. Only the infamous rake who went to the America's to help fight in their Civil War has returned scarred and blind. Needless to say both Dalton and Minerva have a difference of opinions on this subject, because Dalton believes its Minerva's brother that caused his injury, so he isn't all that eager to aid the man that shot him, however, he is fascinated by Minerva. Minerva isn't your average lady, she lives her own life, has had a lover, wears breeches when the need strikes her, goes in search of old objects. Hates balls and parties or even dressing up, she prefers dressing down. Dalton technically is Scottish, but has spent much of his life in England so he comes off as more of a London rake who has gone through some rough patches. Despite his torrid past, he is a character that you just reach out for, because he is emotionally traumatized and you don't see the rogue in him much despite the "rumors". The banter between these two is quite energetic and they definitely have some sparks flying between them.
"I can't kiss you."

"Just a taste of passion," he said

"Absolutely not."

"I have needs," he said with a smile

"As if that's my concern."

"Are you afraid?"

"Of course not. I just don't want to kiss you."

"Not at all?"

"Not one little bit. Not an iota."

"You're fibbing, Minerva"

"I'm not."

He lowered his head, brushed his lips over her heated cheek. To his surprise, she didn't move away. Slowly he traced a path to her lips, breathing against them before placing his mouth on hers. A kiss should be an appetizer. A kiss was a prelude, strings being tuned in an orchestra pit, dawn on an important day. A kiss was not a feast. A kiss was not an explosion of the senses. but this one was.

What was most interesting about this one, was the hint of danger you sense from the very start of the story and it builds and builds gradually until the end. It also doesn't detract from the romance, it tends to even out in the end. Quite a lovely romance that had spark and flare and I had quite a time seeing these characters come alive off the pages. SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!

Patience adores her husband, but she struggles with jealousy and when there are certain signs of him keeping secrets from her, and spending time with a woman that obviously wants Julian. But on one fateful night, in trying to save her nieces and nephews, Patience loses her two brothers in a fire, and she ended up severely burned on one side of her body. Patience blames herself for her brothers' deaths, both of whom left behind children. Patience ended up scarred from her burns, and in her mind not worthy of Julian. Will Patience be able to prove to Julian of her love for him or will she lose him forever?

Plot and Story Line

The Highlander's Woman was a highly emotional story that just won me over from the beginning. It begins with Julian and Patience being newly married. Normally in most stories, we don't see this circumstance...usually that is the ending. So it was quite fun to see them starting at the beginning of their marriage and see how vital trust is needed in a relationship. Monica Burns is such a wonderful author, and I love how emotional her books are. The heat level she implements are usually higher than the mainstream historical romance, but its equally balanced well with emotion. This is the type of story that will have you spellbound and flipping through those pages as fast as possible. I read this in just a couple of hours, so that should tell you how much I loved it. It is very intense and has some moments that were pretty vividly pictured, and I needed a box of tissues to get through this one because it deals with some traumatizing events. This couple is really tested in this story. They both learn how love doesn't matter unless you have complete trust. This was a story that is one of those full belly satisfying reads, that even though it puts the reader through the ringer. I would highly recommend this book, and even though its the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone, but I so want to read the first two books now. If you have yet to try this author out, I would highly recommend her. I love the way she weaves her stories that are both sensual and poignantly romantic.

The Cover

This is a unique cover, I love the scene with the Scottish background and the gray clouds, it has a softer feel to it.

Summary

Matt Dean, is the oldest of the four brothers, and has always led and protected his brothers for as long as he can remember. Matt will do anything to save his brothers, and time is ticking. Each of them has chips in their backs, and if they don't get access to the correct codes, they will all die within six weeks. He has come to Charmed, Idaho to find a woman that is behind the making of the chips, but he will need to find her and extract any information he can gain. Recovering from a knife wound, he is stumbled on by Laney Jacobs, a sweet bar owner that takes him in. In exchange for working as a bouncer, he will get a room to stay in. It is the perfect cover for Matt, and he knows that he needs to draw out the woman who is hiding. Laney is running from her past, and even though she knows it can't last, she is enjoying the life she has made in Charmed. The last thing she needs is to get into a relationship with this dangerous man, but there is something about Matt that calls him to her, and she can't resist his sensual kisses or the opening of her heart to him. But there are multiple dangers and secrets that will change everything for Matt and Laney, will the love they have be strong enough?

Plot and Story Line

After reading the first book, I thought that nothing could get better than the first book, but boy was I wrong. Sweet Revenge was just as good or even better than Forgotten Sins. After seeing the bonds between these brothers, I was super excited for Matt's story. Matt is the oldest brother, and I loved how protective he is of them. We also see how much losing his baby brother is tearing him apart inside. Matt as the oldest, feels responsible, and refuses to lose the brothers he has left.

“I’ve lost everyone I’ve ever cared about, and I’ve never loved somebody like this. I can’t lose it, and I won’t lose you … This has nothing to do with equal rights or trust. This is life, and you’re mine.”

We see instant sparks between Matt and Lanie. Even though Lanie doesn't trust Matt, she softens toward him and even though they are sexually explosive together, the relationship is so tender and sweet at times.

“I love completely, Laney, and I’m sure it’s a pain in the ass … You have my heart and always will.”

I just couldn't get enough of these two and it was interesting seeing how strong their bond to each other develops. But there is one secret that totally blew me away...well multiple secrets, but I can tell you without revealing too much, that this secret I DID NOT see coming. This story just gets more and more intense, the suspense builds with each chapter you read. And boy was it intense, both the plot and the romance between Matt and Laney. Matt is quite the alpha male, likes being in control over a situation, is a one woman man, posseisve and sexy as hell. Lanie is spirted and courageous and a fighter. What a backbone she has, and she is quite the match for Matt here. What we also have is the reveal of certain side characters that aren't what they seem. And I thought I was suprised in Forgotten Sins...but oh boy, Sweet Revenge beats Forgotten Sins on the surprises and shocks and those unique twists that build the story even more. I find myself just soaking up every moment and intense scene that Sweet Revenge gives us. This is a story that is intense, poignantly romantic and action packed that builds. I just can't get enough...now onto the third book. I am practically addicted, I have a feeling I am going to have to read all four books because boy there is nothing better than a story that packs a punch like Sweet Revenge does.

The Cover

I LOVE this cover, and boy sexy as sin right? I love the danger feel to it, with the scruff on his face (I love light scruffiness)

A stunning and action-packed romance that will shake the ground beneath your feet and shock you to the core. A thrilling tale of deceit, danger, and a love to fight for!! STUNNING!!

There is one down side, when they escaped five years previous, they have a kill swith and it goes off within one week. Jory knows that he is running out of time, he needs to find a way to escape and get to his brothers before its too late for all of them. The commander has ordered a new computer whiz to work on the chips and the coding. Piper Oliver has worked hard to become the talent with a computer as she has become. She wants to build a relationship with her father who is the commander and so takes on this job. As she converses with Jory, she starts to become confused, she doesn't know who to believe her father or this sexy man that make her yearn for more in her life. When Jory escapes and takes her along, she finds herself unable to resist her attraction to Jory, but soon Piper will have to make a choice....stand by the man she loves or by a father who has never been there.

The Hero

Jory Dean is a hero who just come to love. I have been waiting for his story ever since I started this series. Jory is the youngest of the brothers. When they were first created, he was considered the "weak" one, didn't come into his strength until later.

Even the smallest lion can have a big roar.

His strength came first in his brain. Jory has always been a bit of a geek especially when it comes to anything electronic. Eventually, Jory came into his own physical strength and became just as formidable as his brothers.

I’m a fucking killing machine, and you’re a sweet little hacker who likes to flirt with danger. Baby, I am danger.

After being captured while on an undercover mission to save himself and his brothers, he is shot and almost dies. But one of the bullets that pierce him, damages his chip and he knows that he will not survive. But he has always felt indebted to his brothers for protecting him and keeping them together. He will do everything in his power to save them even if he can't save himself.  Jory was such a unique character, and I love the geeky but sexy ones. They just are perfect for me because I love a man that uses his brain.

The Heroine

Piper Oliver was raised with a loving mother. After she graduated college and started working with the NSA, she went searching for her father, a man her mother was highly intimidated by and would never speak of. Piper wanted to know why he was so bad. So looking for more information on her father, she hacks into his company and almost gets put into jail, but then her father rescues her and offers her a job. She is more than willing, wanting to believe everything that her father tells her about what he does and most especially about Jory. Piper is a computer analyst and quite a genius when it comes to computers. She can hack just about anything. What was most fascinating about her character was seeing her battle through her emotions and trying to decide who to trust. From her point of view she doesn't see who her father really is, and maybe on a deep level is in denial through much of the story, because of her desire to have a father in her life. I enjoyed the heroine quite a bit, but her being in denial for so much of the book, got a bit annoying at times, but she does follow through and stands with the man she loves, and that action definitely redeemed her in my eyes.
“I’ll do my best to get back to you.”
“I’m coming with you.” She leaned in and licked his right nipple.
He shivered. “No.”
She nipped. “Yes. I’m the hero of my own damn story, Jory Dean. Protect me all you want, but this once, I’m needed with you.

Despite a few of my reservations about her character, I couldn't help but admire her wit and strength.

Plot and Story Line

Total Surrender is the fourth book, and I am not sure if its the last one, I am hoping we will have more since the ending did leave us with a bit of a teaser for another book. This is a book I have been looking forward to seeing book one. In books one and two I suspected that Jory was alive and was really hoping he would be alive and boy was I glad to see that he was. We really sense how much the other brothers love Jory and will do anything for their baby brother. We get a beginning scene of when they were kids, and oh my goodness, it just about made me cry. Jory is the heart of the family, and he gets what his brothers really need before they do. I loved how honest and true he is. He has been protected by them and feels he owes them a debt for all that they have sacrificed for him. His situation was so heartbreaking because he believes he won't survive due to his damaged chip. He then escapes and kidnaps Piper, he is drawn to her, but he senses that she is the key to saving his brothers. And then the sweet reunion that we have between the brothers, I will admit I became quite emotional because you just see how much they love each other and not a dry eye here.
No more fucking good-byes. I am so done with that shit and with all of us sacrificing our lives. We’re fucking done, and we’ll all fucking live. The first guy who tells me good-bye ever again, even if he’s just going to the fucking grocery store, gets a fist planted in his fucking face.

It was so perfect in the way it was executed and BRAVO to Rebecca Zanetti. Then we see the brothers working together, all four of them to survive and live that happily ever after that they have all fought so hard to find and achieve. Now lets talk the romance that we have here with Jory and Piper. It was simply wonderful, what more can I say. It only lasts about a week, but boy what a week. Its fiery hot but powerfully tender. I adored seeing how these two fight for one another, and fight for their lives alongside the other brothers and the women that stand beside them.
Jory gripped her chin, turning her to face him. His jaw hardened, and he tried to remain gentle. “Time to make a choice, sweetheart. Please. Choose me."

Things tend to get pretty intense toward the end, with each chapter in this book, the plot escalates in action and dramatic effect, but so many more revealing things....three more brothers or more!! In fact, one of my favorite new supporting characters was Chance, he just won my heart over instantly. He is very much like Matt, which was fun to see the common denominators between them. I love how this family with their spouses and a few others, create this family unit. The ending especially was so fabulous and just had me in tears. If you read the series in order, we see how each book has been building up to this moment and it was...Voila....PERFECTION!! I want more and more of these Sin Brothers. If you love romantic suspense with a hint of paranormal elements....this is a MUST READ SERIES!! Top favorite books of all time.

The Cover

I love love this cover. I like a good strong back and boy this is too good to look at. And with the blue background...just the perfect touch to a great story.

Summary

Emily Beale is the first woman to fly for the SOAR, which is some of the best black hawk pilots in the coutrny or even the world. Over the past couple months, she has been ordered to go on dangerous missions, so she has been working her tail off to prove herself. But she is shocked when CNN does a feature on her, which didn't exactly point out her flying talents, more of her cooking techniques and her being a woman...not what she needed at all. Makes Emily pretty pissed to be portrayed as a sex object. So she shoots the computer that is relaying the feature. Nothing wrong with displaying her true feelings. Major Mark Henderson, her CO, has called her up on a dangerous mission. She performs a miracle which saves on the black op members and puts the focus even more on herself. When there have been some threats made against the first lady, the first lady is insistent that Emily gets hired on as her pilot and her personal chef. Really?? Emily is not happy about this new assignment especially when it takes her away from flying, and from the one man that is untouchable but his kisses breath a spark she never imagined she would find. As she comes to the White House, she comes face to face with a childhood friend and crush she had for years, none other than the President himself. Soon Mark is joining up with her to discovering who is really after the first lady, there is a threat and it may not be toward the first lady at all, but someone else and only Emily will be able to discover the real threat before its too late.

The Hero

Mark Henderson, is a military man and one of the best when it comes to flying Black Hawks. He is proud to be the leader of the SOAR. Mark takes after his father, who is a retired military officer and went on many dangerous missions. Mark unfortunately refuses to get married, because he saw the hell his mother was put through every time his father was called away and refuses to do that to someone he loved. What he doesn't expect is to be drawn to one of the best pilots under his command, and giving into his desires for her could cost him his whole career. Mark is quite the hero and boy was he hot in this book. I love heroes that are badass, and he fits the picture.
Major Mark "The Viper" Henderson stood two paces inside the rolled-back flap of the tent, one foot still buried in the machine. Six feet of clichéd soldier. Broad shoulders, raw muscle, and the most dangerous-looking man Emily had ever met.

He is military, but has a sense of humor, one of the best pilots and knows how to fight. What I found most likeable about his character, was how driven he is and I really liked the reason behind him not having settled down yet. You see how much he would like that, but he is more concerned about the wife he would have and how much grief and pain he would put her through. It has shaped him to be the best of the best. And despite his toughness on the surface, he is sweet and tender on the inside. Love the mix in a hero.

The Heroine

Emily Beale is a Captain, and even though she has always loved cooking and is pretty talented at it, her true love is flying in the skies. Ever since her father took her up in a helicopter, she knew that was what she wanted to be. She has fought hard to make a good name for herself and become the first woman to be part of SOAR, an elite band of military pilots. And it wasn't easy to prove to everyone on the team including her CO that she is dang good at what she does. We see how flying is natural to her as breathing, and giving it up would practically be a death sentence for her. In the beginning, we see how good Emily really is, and she has pure talent when it comes to flying in dangerous situations and bringing everyone home. "never leaving anyone behind" is her personal motto. She is quite the entertaiining character. I love how sassy she is, can bring a guy to his knees on the mat in seconds, and can cook like a professional chef. She has this tough side that is vital because she is a woman serving in the military, but she has passion and dreams too. She craves love and to be accepted for who she is, but is more than willing to wait for the right man to come along who will encourage her to pursue her dreams. I quite loved Emily, because despite how tough she is, she has a soft side to her character that shines through in this book. Seriously, though, reading this makes me want to learn to fly Black Hawks.

Plot and Story Line

I just want to say WOW...this story was so phenomenal, and boy I can't wait to read more of this author. I love that this author is male and writes romantic suspense. That is so amazing to me, I don't get a chance to read too many male romance authors, but now he is one of my favorite when it comes to this genre. M.L. Buchman has a way of bring intense and action filled books to life, and boy did I feel it in The Night Is Mine I absoultely couldn't get enough of this one. The plot was so surreal and kept me on my toes from beginning to end. What I liked the most is how there is so much more to the story than the blurb reveals to us. Much of the book is about Mark and Emily at the White House and on their undercover mission. But we see how well they fly together, and how talented each of them are and Emily really pulls a few moves on Mark that just livened up the story even more. I could believe how much I got sucked into this story, but it did. Normally I never know with Military themed romances, but this one had me hooked from the first page. What was also fun was seeing a old friendship between Emily and Pete (the President) at first its a bit awkward because of how long they haven't seen each other, and it might seem like a love triangle, but it really isn't. Emily may have had a crush on Peter when they were younger, but one Peter is married, and Emily is totally attracted to Mark in a very real way. Now Mark was so fantastic and quite works his way into, working undercover. Technically he isn't even suppose to be undercover, but when Emily gets hurt, he comforts her and thus begins their secret and forbidden love affair and ends up helping her and posing as her beach bum boyfriend. The romance was pretty different but I quite had a ball with it. It had its edgy moments, but there was so much sweet and tender scenes it just made me fall for Mark and Emily even more.
He slid a hand around her waist and pulled her across the tile until he could tuck her under his arm. Until she leaned her head on his shoulder. He leaned his cheek on the top of her head and just let her breathing ease as he rubbed his hand up and down her back.

She wasn't a wreck; she was a miracle.

And the President was an idiot for ever letting her slip through his fingers.

Those eyes inspected him. Looked at him until he wanted to look away to preserve his soul. They saw through him, inside him. No secrets were safe from those eyes.

They have so much in common in the important aspects, and where they are different just adds more to their relationship.  There were so many fun elements that made this book become a winning story for me. Can't wait to read more of these "Night Stalkers" and I am so ready for more Emily and Mark and more badass military pilots.

The Cover

Quite a great cover, love the male yumminess, and those abs, just perfect. Love the White House imagery in the background, and the "night" background...very mysterious yet a danger appeal to it as well.

Overall View

Summary

Donovan Pate, has returned to Evergreen Cove, a lake town but also a place that is packed full of bad memories that he is going to have to face if he wants closure...he plans on sticking with his motto "Straight Through". Donny hates what the memories have done to him when his grandmother's estate needs to be sold, Donny knows that he has little choice in returning, if for a little while. But there is a catch, his grandmother made a contract with Sofie Martin to run a charity fundraiser at the mansion, a charity for children struggling with abuse. Donny knows he can't refuse and he can't resist Sofie Martin and what she has always meant to him despite the horrible way he treated her seven years ago. Sofie is a event planner and has been working hard to make sure this charity fundraiser goes off without a hitch. But when Donny returns home, she is full of mixed feelings. Her first time had been with Donny and at first it was beautiful and then it ended up being the worst night of her life. But both Donny and Sofie will have to go Straight Through the bad memories and create happy ones, and they find rebuilt trust but will their love be enough to create their own future and not the one fate designed for them?

The Hero

Donovan Pate suffered from horrible abuse at the hands of his father. His mother left them when he was young, and his grandmother never did anything to help him. Over the years, his body is covered in tattoos to cover the scars and the horrible memories that still haunt him. Donny left Evergreen Cove as soon as he could, and built a life for himself in New York, even if its a bit of a lonely life. When it becomes apparent that he will have to return to the one place he despises, he decides to just stick with his motto "Straight Through" and he will be able to overcome anything that still haunts him.
But he wasn't one to avoid the monsters lurking in the dark. He preferred to deal with things head on. Cheaper than therapy.

But as he starts to work on getting the mansion ready to be sold, every room reminds him of the bad times, of the horror and the pain he suffered as a little boy. Donny is a hero that just about broke my heart. He is tough and has done certain things to protect himself since no one ever protected him when he needed it most. At first I really didn't like him, because of the way he treated Sofie at first, but as the story progresses, you see how much suffering he has been dealt and I was won over to just love his character. He has that "tortured male" going on and it definitely appealed to me. I love a character that is tough and strong and willing to face the bad in order to get some of the good in life.

The Heroine

Sofie was a virgin seven years ago, when she saw Donny and he took her to the library in his mansion, and she always thought that there would be some positive memories for her first time. However, once he realizes that she is a virgin, he practically kicks her out the door. Sofie still after this long time, is hurt by what Donny did to her because she fell in love with him that night and despite her pain, she still does.
She couldn't afford to love him. She couldn't afford to give him another single part of her. Not after he'd taken the part she hadn't realized was precious until she'd trusted it with him.

Sofie is an event planner and has made a prestigious business for herself. She isn't as close to her family as she would like, but she is a 'daddy's girl' and that relationship does play a part in this book. Sofie is strong and independent, but she also is lonely at times and wants to find love again. What I liked most about Sofie was how she stands up to Donny. She is zesty and spirited, and I loved how she stands firm on what she believes in and doesn't let his bad boy attitude change anything.

Plot and Story Line

Rescuing The Bad Boy is the first book I have ever read from Jessica Lemmon, and dang but it was superb. At first it started out a bit slow, but it picked up pace pretty quickly and I was hooked within a couple chapters. It begins with these two meeting and having sex, and not exactly a night to sing about but it really sets the tone for the story and helps the reader understand what happened seven years previous and I enjoyed this aspect because it really adds more of an emotional tune to the story that I felt is needed if you want to delve deep into this one. At first when these two meet again, they have sparks but they are at opposite ends of the argument and neither wants to back down from the fight. I really enjoyed the "second chance" romance trope that is found in this story, and from what I can gather every book in the series has this theme. I was really captivated by the connection that these two have with each other. It isn't an easy one or light-hearted one, its full of tough emotion, but this is the part of the book I loved the most. I couldn't help but fall for both of these characters, both have healing to do and we see how it happens with them working together on the charity event. Now I want to talk about the chemistry these two have going...which boy is it hot.
Donovan ignored the warnings in his head. Now that he was drinking Sofie in, her warm half naked body pressed against his, there was no stopping. There was nothing he wanted more than to taste her, to feel her against him. There was only Sofie and there was only him and the scorching heat burning between them.

They definitely have some great sparks, and they don't struggle with each other too much to just let it happen. I had a jolly time seeing them work through their issues and stumble a bit, but they get right back up and fight. I felt the supporting characters really added some more power to the story and livened it up more.
His friend's eyes cut past him. "Giant mattress."

"Huge"

Connor gave him a shit eating grin. "You bought her a bed."

"Piss off. I bough A bed."

"To sleep with her in."

Donovan was sick of fighting one structural impediment or another. He wanted to lay her down and take the time to do the things he wanted to do to her.

And there were a lot of things.

"Lotta room to groove," Connor put in.

"Don't you have something to mulch?" Donovan grumbled

"Yeah, yeah," He turned to leave.

Donovan followed, but before he flipped off the lights, he studied the big, spacious bed again. And thougt of Sofie on it.

Acres of room to groove.

And the dog..."Gertie" she totally won me over. I do love it when authors implement animals into stories, and it added that touch of sweet to help balance the story out in a harmonious way. Definitely can't wait to read the first book now.

The Cover

Is that men drool worthy sexy or what ladies? I mean, I am not all for tats unless they are done just right, but boy that man I would take any day or night!! He definitely makes that shirt look yummy!!

Overall View

Rescuing The Bad Boy is a stunning romance that just had me craving more....I loved the bad boy, the feisty heroine, the sweet "Gertie", the lively friends and the kids. A tale of love, redemption, and healing. SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!

My Review

Summary

Rick Roman, is a single father and is well known for being the toughest captain on the East Coast. When he gets an offer to come to California for a transfer where they need his expertise, Rick is more than willing. He knows that this change will be good not only for himself but for his son as well. Rick's job is to change how the people of San Gabriel view the fire station and the firefighters that work there. His job is to get rid of the title "Bachelor Firemen", in Rick's mind its not professional and is distracting from what they need to be doing...putting out fires. On his drive to San Gabriel, he runs into a woman in Vegas and despite the fireworks between them she runs like a scalded cat. But he puts  the incident out of his mind, he has a job to do and the last thing he needs is to be distracted. But he is shocked to discover that same woman he ran into in Vegas is a firefighter under him now. Will wonder never cease and the chemistry between them is explosive and she is untouchable. But when certain truths are revealed about Sabina's past, Sabina and Rick connect when they least expect to and love follows but will they find a way to be together despite how much it is forbidden?

The Hero

Rick Roman, has served as a firefighter back east for the longest time. He lost his wife during the 911 attack in the towers, and she died instantly and he has never been able to forgive himself. Rick has had to raise his son with the help of his parents. Rick has learned to close himself off emotionally, he couldn't afford to risk getting hurt again. Rick is from an Italian family, an excellent cook and has worked hard to be a reliable father and setting the high standard for fire stations and doesn't soften his approach. Rick is quite the hoot in this book, and I fell for his character quite instantly. I loved how firm he is and doesn't back down from what he believes in. He is the type of hero you would want as a husband...reliable, hard working, sexy and takes care of his body and has a commanding presence. He loves to cook, is a loving father and quite loyal. In this book, we see his character really shine and he adds that balance that is needed.

The Heroine

Sabina is hiding out from the world. Sabina grew up the daughter of an actress and joined her mother up until she was seventeen in the acting business and was quite talented at it. Being beautiful and graceful she made a good name for herself and could have had an explosive career. But then she had an inspiration and decided that acting just wasn't for her. She wanted to make a difference, and she and her mother argued and fought and Sabina left. Her mother refusing to talk to her for years. Now she has a different identity, she is talented at hiding who she really is and went through the training of becoming a firefighter. She loves what she does and has worked hard to become one of the team and be accepted by the other in San Gabriel. Sabina is fiery and passionate, she wants to make a difference and help others and I really admired how she was willing to change her life around to do something she loved and believed in. She is protective and quite good at what she does. I liked Sabina quite a bit because of her determination and resilience.

Plot and Story Line

Sex and the Single Fireman is a sensational read and I just got my jolly's off reading this one. So much humor and romance and fun times I just couldn't put this one down. I was hooked from the beginning, and with each book the series just gets better and better. This is the third book and what a ride it was. There were so many little things that combined together made for a fantastic read. I first want to mention the team of firefighters or known as the 'bachelors of San Gabriel'. They are quite unique and they have this close bond and commadarie that I just couldn't get enough of. What became the most admirable about this was seeing the friendship between everyone. The romance between Rick and Sabina is quite explosive especially at the beginning.
"We didn't know if there were any sparks between us. So we tried a kiss to find out if we had chemistry."

"And?"

"And there wasn't. Not like..."

"Like what?" he asked in a low growl, demanding she finish her sentence.

"Like...um...like there ought to be." She dropped her gaze, so he knew she'd censored herself.

"That's not what you were going to say."

"You don't know what I was going to say."

"Yes, I do." He stepped close to her and took her head in his hands, tilting it until her eyes caught dancing sparkles from the streetlights. "You meant, there wasn't any chemistry like This."

And he claimed her mouth like a lion claiming his prey.

But then it turns into a form of "forbidden" romance. At first Rick really lights a fire beneath the firefighters and really works them hard. So Sabina likes him but doesn't want to. But through a set of circumstances they end up falling in love with each other. Its very subtle, this is no instant love connection. Their love story takes some time and they build a relationship that isn't an easy road. They go through some rough patches of learning to trust and relying on each other.
There was no way in living hell I was going to watch another fucking pile of concrete take the woman I love

But boy do they make a fabulous team. Then we have the son, he was so fun and I loved how easy going and talkative he is at times. He is so close to his father too and you see that Father and Son bond real close here which was just another highlight to the story. This story really packed a punch, and had everything I need for a sexy firefighter romance. Passion...excitement and laughter!!

The Cover

Such a sensual cover...I really love the pose with the "half naked" look here. I like how flirty but sexy it as at the same time. And the yellow and red is so fiery hot!! LOVE it!!

Overall View
