This is the first time I have read from Jane Ashford, I have noticed her books around lately, as she is getting them republished and the covers redone. This book I found on Netgalley and I was so thrilled to get a chance to try her out. This book was shorter than I expect, only about 200 pages, which for how long it was this story had a depth to it I wasn't expecting to find. This is a story that I honestly wasn't sure if I would like or not. The reviews and ratings aren't super high, and so I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I ended up enjoying it. The Hero was enchanting and I loved his character. He knows what he wants and he fights for it and isn't ashamed of who he is, even if others may be. The heroine I had a bit of struggle with at first, but we really see how much she grows through the whole book, and the focus is really on her character and personality and how much we see the change in her the more she and Justin get to know each other. Margaret has been shielded and has never had a real chance to become anyone except from what her parents wanted from her. But then she ends up in a room with Justin and she begins to learn that she has a brain and she can use it. Even though I wanted to shake some sense into her, I also realized that Margaret is learning certain facts about herself, that we all learn as children. So I had to give her room and allow her to become more before I judged her too harshly. I loved the relationship between Justin and Margaret. There isn't much heat except for some kissing in this book, which was a bit refreshing. I wasn't excepting that at all, and I liked having something different. The entire focus was the building of the relationship on an emotional and intellectual levels and the physical just seemed to come naturally for them after they had developed a deeper connection to each other. And the ending was dang good, and seeing Margaret stand up to her folks was brilliant and this is what the book leads up to and fighting for the one you love!!
The Cover
I adore this cover, with the bold colors and the pose, and her dress is just beautiful!!

Summary
Khaki Blake is a police officer and very good at what she does. But lately her job has seemed to be harder than normal and her ex who is also on the force, starts acting up she stands on her own and while out protecting a civilian she almost loses her life in the process and that night would change her forever, because she is now a wolf and she doesn't even fully realize what she is becoming. She is offered a job on the SWAT team, all male, and even though she knows that she is in for a tough time and will have to prove herself, she also knows it's the right move for her. Xander Riggs is the Senior Corp of the team and the man in charge when it comes to going on missions. The last thing that Xander wants is to have a woman on the team. He is comfortable with who is on the team and doesn't need another "newbie". But his boss forces him to accept Khaki, and so he will but he refuses to be easy. From the first moment he meets her, he senses something more, a connection one he has never felt or imagined before. He tries to ignore it, but soon both Xander and Khaki will have to come to terms with what they are both feeling for each other. And they both know that they are "the one" for each other, the problem...they work on the same team and that is breaking so many rules. Will they be able to keep their desire for each other a secret, and will their bond be a weakness or a strength they can use against their enemies?
The Hero
Xander has always served in the military and is proud of what he has accomplished, but he loves being the leader of the SWAT team. He is dang good at what he does and embraces his wolf fully. Before the turning, he served on different teams, but they weren't loyal to what they were doing and struggled with coming to terms with certain issues he had to face. Xander is strong and lethal, powerful and fully love what he has become. He is tough on his team but is also fair. Xander is a hero that you come to admire from the beginning, and he is pretty tough but at the beginning of the story you see how tough he is on Khaki is really Xander trying to resist the desire he feels for her. But what I loved most about Xander was how handles any situation that he was dealt with. He was calm and cool, unless it came to Khaki than all bets were off.
The Heroine
Khaki Blake, ever since she was little wanted to be a cop, her family was always supportive of her choice of career. She wanted to save lives and make a true difference. Khaki stands on her own, and is so kick ass. She has recently broke off a relationship with a fellow officer, who used her and was manipulative. And on the one night she needed help from fellow officers, they stood her up because they didn't want to get on his bad side. This one night she almost lost her life, but she also gained her wolfish side and was able to get a job offer to the SWAT team. What was most fun about Khaki was her spirit and she never gave up on what she wanted. These wolfish men really put her through the ringer, but she passes every test and shows them she is no weak female....she can fight and be a true pack member. She handles the truth pretty good and I love how she just accepts who she is and embraces who she is becoming. As the reader I came to really admire her as the heroine, because even though she can fight with the best of them, she also has many feminine qualities and has a personality that is very easy to relate with.

Wolf Trouble is the second in the newest series by Paige Tyler and boy was it a blast!! I had a ball of action and sexy fun with this book. Of course every time I read this author, I just can't ever get enough of her. She writes in the certain way that completely drags you into the story and has the reader completely enthralled. I always have to make sure that I have plenty of time to read her so there are no disruptions...she is the type of author that you would stay up ALL night reader her book. I love it when this happens, the only problem I had with this book, it ended way TOO soon!! I just soaked up everything that happened in this book. The couple here are quite fun together. Both the hero and heroine have strong personality and when they first meet, they clash. They have an instant sexual attraction, but they just ignore it at first, and act like they don't like each other when they would love to get into bed together. What I liked was that they used self-control, and it wasn't a story where there is insta lust and they act on it. Once they start communicating honestly with each other, they build up a friendship before they get all smexy with each other. Which I definitely admired, seeing an emotional bond form before the physical one did. A fun aspect of the story was the other members of the team and how they embraced Khaki on their team. The commadarie and acceptance is instantly placed from the moment she starts with the team, and even though they are tough and bad ass, they are fair to her. The teasing and jokes and the playful attitude they had was contagious and made me wish I could jump right into the book myself and be Khaki. This was a romance which was engaging, playful, and intense. Had the perfect blend of romance and action.
The Cover
I adore this cover, because it's so intense and raw that matches the story. It evokes the action and mystery of the story and look at those lovely muscles ladies? Hot and Sexy!!

Something Witchy This Way Comes, is the fifth installment in the Jolie Wilkins series. Ever since the first book in the series, I have always loved this story, and I have just loved this author.....although I didn't know how much I would like this book after the last one, but I found that it was entertaining, and filled with suspenseful moments, that I really wondered what would happen next. It wasn't predictable at all, which was one of my favorite aspects while reading it, that there were surprises here and there. I have to say though, normally I hate love triangles, but for some reason in this story, I have just loved the love triangle with Jolie, Rand and Sinjin, it definitely adds flair to the story and enhances the characteristics of the plot. The only thing I didn't like too much, was how indecisive Jolie can be, but I just love Rand, he is so sexy and appealing and his character is so endearing and one can't help but love him to pieces. Overall a fun and intense story that was very satisfying as the end of the series!!!! Truly Enjoyed It!!!

Her roommate is on dialysis and needs a transplant, and Zoey is more than willing to give a kidney to her. Zoey is shy and reserved and has never been around many people, but she is in a new way of living, coming to college. She never imagined that she would be attracted to her roommates boyfriend. And despite their attraction she knows that nothing can ever happen, she would never betray her friend in that way. Quinn Hamilton is sweet and fun-loving, but Cora is his first girlfriend and is dedicated and loyal to her. He would do anything for her, to keep her happy. Quinn never imagined that he would start have sex dreams about Zoey, and be able to connect with her on a level he never has with Cora. When he learns some awful truths about Cora, he fights for the woman he truly desires and wants more than anything. Soon though Quinn and Zoey will be tested in a way which their relationship will go through the ringer, and only by trusting in the love they have built will they find a way to be together.
“Sometimes, it’s the little things we do that mean the most to others.”
The Hero
Quinn Hamilton is a sweet but shy guy. He plays on the football team and is a starter. Quinn has never had a girlfriend until he came to college. Quinn didn't have an easy childhood, and still bears the scars from that horrid time in his past. It still haunts him at times and worships Cora because she is the first girl to give him notice. Quinn was quite the heartbreaking hero and my heart just ached for him. We see what a wonderful person Quinn is...thoughtful, kind and loving. He is the perfect hero and gets treated so horribly at times by his girlfriend. Which is why I loved the way Zoey is with him, she shows him what a real relationship should be even though she has no clue herself.
The Heroine
Zoey Blakeland is a heroine that we see inside of quite a bit. And in this story even though there is alternating POV...I always loved the parts where we inside of Zoey. She is a character, that is so afraid of everything, almost afraid of her own shadow. She has never really had a chance to build confidence until now. We see how her characters change, and although it's a slow change, it's a good one. Zoey goes from being super quiet and shy to fighting for what she wants and stands up to Cora, and I so cheered her on in those special moments where you see her true character come forth and shine. Zoey is talented, intelligent and sweet. Perfect match for our Quinn. Here below is a scene that I love Zoey in with Quinn and Ten (who is quite the scoundrel but very funny and he plays a huge role with the love story that develops between Quinn and Zoey)
"Something's wrong with his penis.""What?" a clear confused Quinn said as Ten choked out a horrified growl."I'm Sorry, I didn't mean to say that out loud, but..oh my God. It doesn't look like yours. There's this big, blood bruise looking thing on it.""Blondie!" Ten cried in a strained voice. "Shut...Up!!"I Finally glanced at him. As I looked at him, though, all I could see was that huge discoloration on his junk."I'm sorry." I said, genuinely remorseful for blurting what was probably something very private about his privates. "I just couldn't keep it in. I tried. But..oh my God. What is it? Does it hurt?"Quinn choked out a surprised laugh, while a blushing Ten slapped his palm against his forehead"It's a birthmark." He gritted out "Just a birthmark. Nothing is wrong with my dick.
Plot and Story Line
With Every Heartbeat is such an emotional addition to the Forbidden Men series and the last book I needed to read before I finished the series and what a fun ride it is. Sad but I hear the next book is coming out soon, so I am pretty excited about that. What I have loved about this series is how each couple is unique in their situations and we see how each pair overcomes the "forbidden love" scenario that they find themselves in. Now first off I want to point out that there is no cheating in this book. Thank goodness...I have issues with that. But Linda Kage writes this story in such a way that we see a building of friendship before these two get anywhere close to being physically intimate with each other. In fact, this aspect was one of my favorites about how this story evolved, was seeing them truly bonding emotionally and intellectually before they get sex happy. Many things happen to this couple before they even get to the happy in bed aspects. What I loved about this story, and it's a theme we see in each, book of the series, is how there is alternating POV's...which is so fun. Most of the time when I read New Adult its only in one POV, and it tends to get old after a while. I LOVED how it switches from Zoey to Quinn every chapter. You see both sides of their lives and what makes them tick.
”Dr. Pepper was my drink. Strawberry was my ice cream. Pepperoni was my pizza. And Cora was my girl.
The supporting cast was quite fun...we see more of the "Forbidden couples" and their interactions are quite fun. Also we see the beginning of Ten and Caroline before their chemistry gets explosive in the next book. This story we see the build up of tension and the nasty bits of Cora. Now Cora is one nasty piece of work. At first I wasn't sure what my first impression was, I thought she was a bit flighty and conceited. I didn't really like her much but when we learn her true agenda, well lets just say I could throw her out a window. She is quite horrid to both Quinn and Cora, but Quinn and Cora are such wonderful human beings. Honestly I don't know how I would react and treat Cora afterwards, but they were much nicer than I would ever be. They stand up to her but at the same time are still decent to her. In this story Cora is the "Villain" and we learn some truths about Zoey's past which was quite shocking and I didn't see coming. The romance between Quinn and Zoey was brilliantly played out. They were perfect for each other. They both had traumatic pasts, they were both sweet and kind but had various interests that balanced them out well. Once they got together, it was like they just "fit".
"I love you. With every beat of my heart, I am yours."
What was most admirable about these two was seeing them finally together, after seeing them struggle with the complications beforehand, and finally once they are together, their troubles aren't even close to being over...but them fighting for one another and stumble and fall and get right back up and keep fighting just made the story even sweeter.
The Cover
I actually adore this cover, with that relaxing pose, so romantic yet sensual too.

Summary
Aden and Zaira wake up in prison cells, injured and unable to her their psychic links. Aden and Zaira are both Arrows, and Aden is considered to be the new leader of the Arrows. But now they have been taken, with Zaira shot in the stomach, Aden knows the sooner they escape the more chance they have at survival. So in a weak moment from their captors, they make for an escape, only the danger doesn't end there. They are being hunted, and their trail leads them to a changeling den. Aden and Zaira may be Psy and Arrows, but passion holds no bounds. Upon being treated by the healer, Aden and Zaira have little choice but to stay in the den while the storm lingers. A fierce passion builds between Aden and Zaira, a desire that will force them to feel the emotion they have denied all of their lives...a powerful love. But soon they start to realize that the danger is still after them, and they must discover who is behind it all or die.
The Hero
Aden is what the changeling's would refer to as an Alpha. Aden has always been the type to be a true leader. With silence broken, things are changing for the Arrows he is responsible for. He knows that they must change in order to live. For so long they have relied on silence, but now they will be forced to face something even more formidable...emotion. Aden has always been overlooked, and most Psy wouldn't ever take him seriously. But Aden is more powerful than anyone knows but has been able to accept emotion more easily than most of his kind. He wants something more for his family of Arrows, and will lead them. What I enjoyed most about Aden is his acceptance and ability to adapt. He has this alpha personality, a true leader, but he also cares for those he leads and fights for them.
The Heroine
Zaira is one powerful Arrow, but Zaira sees herself as broken and close to madness. Her parents tortured her as a young girl, and Aden was the only one to see through her and love the true Zaira. But Zaira knows how possessive she would be if she bonded with Aden. What I found most likable about Zaira was how her personality just shined when she let it come through. At first she may seem an average cold hearted Psy...but she is so much more than that. With each chapter of the story, you see more and more of Zaira come through. Zaira at times has no idea how to react to emotion and is almost like a child in her reactions. Zaira sees herself as mad, but what the reader sees is a young woman that was tortured and is full of anger, and just needs a outlet for that anger and to learn to let love heal those broken wounds that keep her trapped in the past.
Plot and Story Line
Shards Of Hope is a truly magnificent story of true love and the little emblems of hope it brings. I am truly astounded by Nalini Singh's talent with writing this series. If you look at book one--Slave To Sensation and to this installment, the 14th book you see how much the series has evolved. It has slowly changed and I have loved seeing this change over the years. I have been reading this series the first few books were released, and have followed it since. This is a story that even though it focuses on Aden and Zaira (two powerful Psy Arrows) we see plenty of Changelings too. We see many of our favorite characters, including a couple of new changeling packs. The first one truly captivated me. This is the first changeling pack that Aden and Zaira spend quite a bit of time with and we see how this affects them...especially the cubs. What we see (mostly from Zaira) is how she reacts to experience new things. Such as holding a child that loves to cuddle, learning to hug and protect, or climbing a changeling gym of bars (that no one but a changeling can master) Zaira is a character you instantly grab hold of because of her reactions are so precious you have a hard time putting this book down. I loved how fresh this story came alive for me, and even though it is the 14th book of the series, we learn so many things in this book. We see an unraveling of a plot that seems set to destroy the peace that all three races have built together (psy, changeling and human). We see intrigue, passion, mystery, adventure, suspense and so much more. Its a book that is guaranteed to make you fall in love with this world that Singh has created, and a love story unequaled...that hope and a healing love can heal any living thing and can bring a new sense of hope and trust.
The Cover
I just adore this cover...I love the winter theme, with the gold rays of light and darkness, and the little valley...it has some depth elements that makes you want to open those pages and learn more.

Shards of Hope is a truly magical tale of two people that have forgotten emotion and now must learn to face it and embrace it together. It's a tale of hope that comes in little by little and increases with each chapter, we see a love story unfold and a danger threaten....SENSATIONAL!

Soon Lucien will have to face his past and Emily will have to learn to trust in her new feelings and the future that lays ahead of her.
Plot and Story Line
Lady Emily Exotic Journey is a story that is so unlike any regency type romance. It is rare to read a story like this and it was quite refreshing reading something different and unique. This is the second book in the series, What I loved most about this book was seeing how it unraveled. There were some moments that the story seemed to drag a bit, but once I got about halfway it really picked up. This is a story that has two plots (kinda). We have the main story line between Lucien and Emily. There is a second one...the story between David and Julia. David and Julia are very alike. Both have backgrounds that are similar to each other, but they both have plans for a future that go hand in hand. Lucien and Emily's personalities are a great match as well, but they are starkly different from David and Julia. Both Lucien and Emily crave adventure and travel. What is most interesting is that as the story unravels we see how Lucien and Emily change, as Lucien faces the problems of his past.
He saw the truth. They were not copains. She was his woman. He did not want her as a friendly companion. He wanted her in his arms, in his bed, clothed in that dark honey hair and nothing else. He wanted her, desperately, hungrily, and he had to have her.
This is where Emily and Lucien really come together and rely on the bond they have to embrace what is meant to be. What was most fascinating was seeing how both of these couples come together, and it takes a dangerous plot that makes these four individuals realize how fragile life is and to embrace every moment. What is most fun about this author is the detail she places in her stories. So far its only two books, and even though the story seemed a bit slow at places, I loved how see makes the story and places come alive for the reader. Not too many authors have the ability to create such detail especially when it comes to historical romance. Overall I found that this is a story of adventure, passion, intrigue and an endearing love story.
The Cover
I adore this cover, and it totally matches the story so well. I love her dress, and the pose here, with the background of the river.

Lady Elinor's Wicked Adventures (1)
Lady Emily's Exotic Journey (2)

There were so many things that made me really like this one. First off when I first started reading this I got hooked within the first few pages. But then it kinda went a little "meh" for me, but then it picked up. We start off with Alberic of Chester, who is a soldier for the King, and in aiding with a battle, has earned a knighthood and a holding. This holding belonged to one of the men he helped bring down, and had fought against the King. So he is ordered by the King, to take charge of his new holding, marry one of the daughter, have one sent to the Abbey, and the other sent to court. Easy enough right? Well the one woman he is drawn to Gwendolyn, is not your normal English lady. She is passionate and independent. Gwendolyn is outraged upon hearing of her father and brother's death, and must get her father's ring from Alberic so she can right a wrong. But what she doesn't expect to happen is to fall for Alberic herself and realize he was her destined match. What we have here is a love story that is set in the mid 1100's, with a mix of old legends and magic. Its quite different from what you assume from the synopsis...so don't let it confuse you. this is a story that slowly won me over, and at first I was going to set it aside, but I really wanted to give this one a shot. So glad I did because this story, while, it didn't WOW me, it did make a very good impression. I enjoyed seeing Alberic and Gwen slowly learn each other, about how love really works, and how you build on it. I am interested in the legend of this ring, really fascinating and has quite a bit of historical relelvance to it. Eager to see what happens to her two other sisters...definitely plan on reading more of Shari Anton. Its a slow and warm love story that worked its way to my heart, with a hint of sibling drama, fascinating intrigue and a dose of magic to keep you drawn to this pair....spellbinding to the end!

Summary
Caitlin MacLean, has graduated from the Distinguished Academy of Governesses, and has quite the full spectrum of knowledge. From cleaning and managing servants to picking locks and deceiving dictators. Cait is not a woman to be messed with. She has recently taken up a position as a British Spy. Her new mission to join forces with the infamous pirate Taran, and help him overthrow an evil dictator who is known for betrayal and being a traitor. When Cait sees Taran she isn't fully prepared for the memories he brings with him. Once they fell in love when they were young, and were devoted to each other.
I want you when you're yelling at Graeme for not letting you play cricket. I want you when you've been carrying wood for cook and you have smudges all over your face and wood chips in your hair. I want you when you're returning from a crofter's cottage, alight with the miracle of helping deliver a wee babe. You're tall and you're beautiful and you're kind. I want to absorb you in my soul.
Taran made a promise to return, he never did, and broke Cait's heart. Cait believes that she has hardened her heart against his advances, and when he attempts to seduce her again, she shoots him. Not your average governess. Cait begins her training with the pirates so that she can learn how to defend herself if needed, and starts to fall in love with this crew of pirates who have only treated her with care and respect and a bit of fun. But there is only one man she is intimidated by...Taran. Taran is the crown prince who lost his father, his mother was imprisoned and he was cast out of his own country by the traitor. He seeks revenge not only for himself but for his people who have suffered horribly in his absence. But with Cait fighting by his side, he fears losing her more than losing his country because she loved him when he was battered and broken and accepted him unconditionally. He vows to win back her heart just as fiercely as he has vowed to fight for his country and people.
The Hero
Taran Tamson is in secret the heir to the throne. He loved and cherished his homeland, but when the worst happened and he lost his family, he was sent to England to learn to fight and regain his kingdom. But he made the biggest mistake, falling in love with his best friend's sister. He knew he would always love her and he always have.
Nine Years. Nine years is a long time. I thought I'd forgotten you, Cate, when I saw you walk across the tavern tonight, I knew I was only fooling myself. I could never forget you
He hated that certain circumstances kept him from going back to her. But he knew that his commitment to justice and to his country was more important. He never expected that Cait would be the one thing he needed to get a stronghold and find the secrets and bring justice and win over his country once again. Taran is quite a unique character, and boy he was sexy as sin. A Prince, A Pirate, A Scoundrel, good in bed and can dance...what more do you need in a hero? Taran has been forced to become a pirate, and his crew he won over when he became captain and treated them like equals and as his family. What was most likeable about his character was how he never gives up, no matter how bleak the situation seems to look. I loved his drive and determination for success.
The Heroine
Caitlyn is a character you learn to like and dislike at times. Most of the time I really admired her sass and convictions, and her determination to do the right thing, no matter the cost to herself. Cait is wild and passionate, but very emotional and dramatic at times. At first I didn't know what to think of her character to be honest. Because when she shoots the man she loves she is quite a willing participant in his sensual advances, so its not like he was forcing her. But she is very confused at the beginning, she has this love/hate relationship with him for most of the book. I truly didn't know what she was really thinking, but in the end she won me over. It was in small and little things. I admired her courage and zest, her stubbornness to stay and fight alongside Taran even when she doesn't like him much....but you see how she goes into denial...its like a ping pong match...back and forth between love and hate. Quite exhausting, but it was quite entertaining all the while.
Plot and Story Line
It has been forever since I have picked up a Christina Dodd historical....well really I haven't read anything of hers lately. But I sure have missed her books, so when I saw she had written another historical, I snatched this one up. Besides I love a steamy pirate romance and this one fit the bill and so much more too!! Wow, I had such a wild roller coaster of a ride with this book. We see both the present and some past excerpts of their relationship before, so you can see how long they have cared about each other. For those that have never read this series before, its based on a school of governesses, so many of the heroines have been participants and have become governesses. But this book took a different turn that the other installments. We have a second chance romance here. My first impression was that it was going to be a more "forbidden" style romance, but that quickly changed into something different. We have more of an espionage theme to this story, and some secrets get revealed---which I won't, so you can be as surprised as I was when I learned) and how that really sets the stage for the rest of the book.
What was most intriguing about this story was the way that they go about deceiving this dictator, working together, the fights and arguments and the bedtime sexiness that at times was smoking hot, more than I would expect from Dodd, but not overly much, just enough to level out the playing field between these two.
I'll worship your body and you'll worship mine. I'll taste you and you'll taste me
Now I do want to mention the pirate crew...boy were they fun!! I adored every one of them, especially the second in command, "Blowfish". He was a hoot. Then we have Taran's mother who is a spitfire and I loved how protective she is of her son and still a fighter after all she has gone through. I truly adored some of the household staff, and how they are willing to risk their lives to fight. This was quite a lively read, full of suspense, mystery, and passion. It kept me on edge and fully intrigued from beginning to end. This is a must for any historical romance lover!
The Cover
I feel like it portrays the theme of the story with "pirates", I like the background of the ocean and the shore there.
