Review: Caught Up (Windy City Series Book 3)
Rating: 4.75 ⭐️ | Spice: 1.5 🌶️
I thought I was heading into a book slump—not connecting with anything I picked up—until I jumped back into the Windy City Series and met Kai, Miller, and baby Max. This book brought me back to life as a reader.
I first met Kai in book 2 (which I read about 1.5 years ago), but this story truly cemented him—and Miller—into my heart. The chemistry and banter between the main characters were perfect. Kai gave Miller a place to belong, and Miller reminded Kai what it is like to have fun again, especially after stepping into fatherhood.
There were so many emotional moments that had me crying, but this quote absolutely broke me:
“Miller,” he says, making sure my attention is on him. “If you ever decide to stop running and make a home…” His eyes are begging, pleading. “Make it with me.”
The romance was beautiful, the spice was good—but honestly, what stuck with me was the love between Max and everyone around her. I bawled when Max finally said her name—I knew it was coming, but it still hit hard.
Also, the relationship between Monty and Miller was stunning. It takes a rare kind of person to step up the way Monty did, and his presence throughout the story made it even more moving.
If you are a fan of single dad romances, found family, and a strong, independent FMC who falls hard, I highly recommend this book.
Happy reading, everyone 📚

This is the book that pulled me away from the series I am not usually a fan of second chance and this was a novella which meant I did not get a lot of the detail of their previous relationship. They also grew up together, so they kept saying “r ember when this happened” it started to annoy me.
I did finish the book but I gave it 3.25 ⭐️ and 1.5 🌶️ I felt like the book was a blur and can barely remember the spicy scenes.
If you like second chances this may be a good for you but it was not for me and I went to read book 3 and had to stop because it was another second chance/friends to lovers and I could not be in this small town anymore.

We met Lance in the first book as one of the Gibson brothers he is a history teacher and the local high school who is a playboy. He has been chatting with one person but also has a thing for the librarian at the school.
Mariah has a family that are terrible to her, and she finds it hard to trust people and Lance is a person she could never see herself with, but she sees him in a different light. This book was good, but it felt very skin level I wanted them to follow her relationship with her sister growing and seeing Ollie do well. Again, the third act breakup was stupid you have said to yourself you love her, but you will not tell her your secret this is how you build a relationship communication and trust.
I gave this 3.75 ⭐️ and 1.5 🌶️ the pantry scene was hot but also so strange because you barely speak to your family but let us get hot and heavy in your mom's house.
If you like a sexy teacher with a cute librarian co worker relationship this would be an enjoyable book for you.

So, I got the series from an audible sale because all 5 books in the series as one was a good deal, and I wanted to try a book by this author. I enjoyed the book at the beginning, but I am not sure if it was due to a slump or not I did not like the third act break up.
There were some things at the beginning that bothered me the whole just swinging a baseball bat seemed weird for me. Also, if you Walker was so annoyed by her why did he not just take her money and let her leave. Then the reason for the third act break up was stupid not telling her was a bad call but come on he is obviously not wanting to be with her. The only positive is nana she made me laugh a lot.
I gave this book 3.75 ⭐️ and 1.5 🌶️ there was some moment in the garage but otherwise the spice was very tame for me.
If you like a grumpy x sunshine in a small town this would be a good read for you.

The last book in the series we get Hans’s book we have seen him in 2 books and after we realize he is on their side and as been stopping a lot of the human trafficking. I feel like this is the book that bugged me the most there were moments where I felt for Hans because of his past but when he calls Cassie little girl during spicy times and she calls him Daddy I could not get on board with that.
This one was strange she kills a guy no freaking out and then he takes her along so she doesn’t get hurt for knowing him but she does not mention her job after that and it just felt weird. I did like the group parts because everyone is now part of the alliance. I will say by the end I was just happy I finished the book.
I gave this book 3.25 ⭐️ and 2 🌶️ Cassie was wanting spicy time constantly so a lot of spice in this book some car scenes too.
I am not sure I would recommend it because I thought it was strange but if you like what I have said then this may be the book for you.

I loved the start of this book, and I loved Valentine her character and her history she did not deserve the parents she got. I enjoyed seeing Dom and Val together and the start of their love story, but I hated that he used her even though it was called for she had already been through enough and she did not need that.
I loved that Dom stood up to her siblings for her but again the entire series has curvy women, but do we need to know about it constantly. As a bigger woman I understand representation for the curvy girls, but I felt like it was too much.
I gave this book 3.75/4⭐️ and 2 🌶️ the story was great but again things pulled me out of the story that is why it is better than the other books but still not the best. The spice was great with the quickie after the flight was 🥵.
Again, if you love a curvy FMC and a MMC who is willing to stand up for you and kidnaps you to protect his family this is the perfect book for you.

I decided it was time to finish this series when I got the second book on my Libby account. I do not know what to say about this book there were points when I was enjoying it then something would annoy me.
I loved the start of King and Savannah’s story finding out the guy she was dating was married but to witness his murder then be kidnapped by the killer was a good plot line. I did not mind the kidnapping storyline, but I do not need to know constantly that the FMC is a bigger woman.
I gave this book 3.75 ⭐️ and 2 🌶️ I enjoyed the book enough that I finished it and it was fun while reading but I did not enjoy it enough. The spice was heavy in this book I find there was more spice than plot.
If you like a curvy FMC and an unhinged MMC this would be a good book for you just because I did not enjoy this book does not mean you will not.

This is the end of the series and another couple I did not know in the beginning Anna shows up in book 4 and this is the first I know about Mason. This book had me 😭 so early. The kids broke me dealing with grief as a child is difficult but also to go through a custody battle too.
Mason was a rock this entire book he took the entire family under his wing and I loved him for it. Anna had a lot she was escaping from her past and she did not deserve what she was given. Anna’s family and ex are horrible people and I am glad she found her new family in Sutter Lake.
I gave this series 4.5 ⭐️ and 1.5 🌶️ this was a creeping relationship and I loved it the ending made me cry also seeing everyone together made me smile.
I am sad I have finished this series but I am happy that I have more worlds to explore by this author so bring it on.

I have to admit I did think the series ended after the last book but along comes Cain who wants to spend some time with his friends from college after some dealing with a situation in his personal life and someone attacking his business.
Kennedy is the person that will give the t-shirt off her back if you said you were cold. She is hiding a secret but she lives in it for so long. Cain is protective because of his past so when he sees someone that is not being honest about their past he is worried. I loved Kennedy and felt for her knowing the decision she had to make and her guilt.
This had so many parts to this book both characters pasts affecting their relationship in different way I gave this book 4.25 ⭐️ and 1.5 🌶️ another book that was plot focussed.
It is almost at the end of the series and I can not get enough of Sutter Lake please read this series.

Now this is the book I have been waiting for since book 1 because I saw these 2 falling for each other in the beginning especially with what she went through with her ex and baby daddy.
Tuck is a character I loved in the beginning he brings the comedy and is a great male figure in Noah’s life. This couple only wanted friends with benefits and we all knew they were meant to be the 3 hand squeezes and 3 kisses on her temple he has been doing for years before they start the FWB. They were in love and never put 2 and 2 together.
Also the plot in this one was wild with the issues with the horses and then the baby daddy shows up. That had me in shock and 😭just after the conversation with Walker. I gave this book 4.5 ⭐️ and 2 🌶️ because the sneaking around was exciting.
You must read this series to understand why I love these characters so much.
