I would have given it a higher rating if the pace was sped up a bit. 

Mediocre was by far one of my favorite non-fiction reads in years. I applaud that author for taking us on a journey into white men mediocrity. This book made me feel seen and validated me in the ways in which I operate and navigate white spaces. I kept wanting to highlight every word while I read. I feel like this is a much read for EVERYONE!

Wow! Tamora really wrote a well-written Quartet. I wish there more people of color in this book but the moral lessons in this book were on point. I wish the books in general discussed different genders. Alanna's beginnings would have been perfect for that. I think that re-tellings of Alanna the first would be wonderful to read. I think the strongest part of Alanna was her mind. She experienced so many hardships and grief and yet she persisted. In spite of losing things, regaining things, losing things... she kept steadfast. I think that is what made her a great character and warrior for her people.

Wow! There are so many things that need to be addressed. The perpetuation of cuddling the black man while expecting the world of a black woman in a black household, toxic masculinity, manhood, womanhood, abortion, death, grief, "you people" when referring to Black people from racist white people, poverty, higher education, African diasporic knowledge, PRIVILEGE, white supremacy, and the understand or denouncing the word of God. I know what I just wrote was a lot but this short play (which was done very well by the way) covers so many themes and many of which I did not mention. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS.... THIS IS YOUR SIGN.

This book touches so many notes of why living a Black Woman's and Black Man's body is so difficult. More specifically to a Black woman and the expectations that are laid upon her and how she "should" be governed. I wanted to scream, cry, and rejoice while reading this book/play
